Starter removal

Car: 1996 Nissan Pathfinder

Hey guys, my name is James and I really hope I can get some answers. I have a 1996 Pathfinder and the starter has gone. I thought it would be an easy fix however when I took the bolts out to drop the starter it looks like the axle is preventing me from removing the starter. I am stuck and would appreciate any help. thnx

I'm not positive about the '96, but on my '88, the starer had to be maneuvered over the axle and out and down the front.
