My wife's 2011 G25x only has 35k miles, but did a very odd thing today.

She came into the house saying the car wouldn't start. I went out to the garage and found the car with headlights brightly lit. I put my foot on the brake and depressed the starter button. Nothing. Just a little click. Tried it a couple more times and the starter began turning over the engine, but it did not start. The button also seemed to "hang up" as it kept turning the starter motor even after I'd quit pushing it. After several more attempts to start the car, I depressed the pedal to the floor (as you would for a flooded carburetted car) and the car lit up and belched unburnt gas and smoke for a couple of seconds. After revving it a couple of times, it cleared out. I shut it down and restarted it a couple of times and it worked fine. I sent her on her way.

Sounds to me like the button on the dashboard is making intermittent contact. Has anyone heard of this problem? Did a search and a ton of folks have had the "click" no start problem, but that is where the similarity ends.

If the battery is the original, it probably has a weak or dead cell.
Check and replace it

I had similar and once it was the battery and another time the alternator. Did you happen to use a meter to see what the battery voltage was or alternator charge?
