The issue that I've been having is that my car cranks , but it does not turn over. fuel pump doesn't prime, black/pink 104 getting power, black/white for ECCS power not getting power ( pin 38 & 47 ) ect. I've checked and make sure the pump doesn't have any issue by grounding the black/pink wire to the chassis and it primes. I've checked continuity on the black/white ECU power by
hooking the SR harness up directly at the battery and I get good voltages going to both 38 and 47 at the ECU connecter.
Now what I've found out is that the ECU is jacked up , We have already tried it on another working SR and it would not start up and we also tried a known working harness just to eliminate the possibility of it being the wiring.
Now here's what I'm really concern about, if anyone could enlighten me on this I'd greatly appreciate it;
I've been told the black/pink wire for the pump should never see any voltages and that it should be grounded by the ECU, but here's the thing... if my ECU is messed up or if I have it unplugged should I THEN see the 12 volt from it?? because that's currently what I have right now ,
unless I jumped the EGI Pump relay 3&5 then I can get the voltage to the pump but it will continue to pump as long as the key is turned "on".another thing and please keep in mind that at this point I do not have ECU plugged in anymore, I'm currently getting a constant 12V to my ECCS relay pin #4 even when the key is on "off", I been told that this is only suppose to get 12V only when key is turned "on"
"from what i can remember the ecu has a constant power, a switched wire that the ignition switch sends 12v when its in the on position. that in turn causes the ecu to trigger the eccs relay to come on which loops around back into the ecu which turns it 'completely' on. kinda a cluster f!ck!
if the realy is not comming on make sure you have the constant, and the ignition switched wire comming in to the ecu"
But after doing lots of research I came across this... is this person correct?, If what he say is true then I'm right where I'm supposed to be with pin 4 ECCS relay being my constant power and my pin 36 which is Ignition? I just don't want to plug in another ECU and end up frying it although I belive the original one that came with the motor was already messed up, they sent me a 63 ECU with a black top.
Last thing, I'm told the black/white 38 & 47 is suppose to have power when key is turned on even if ECU is DEAD or unplugged is this true? because I'm not getting anything on it , however, If I jump 3&5 on EGI relay then yea I get 12V. This is whats confusing tome..SO what actually triggers these relays is It the ECU or is it simply by turning the Key on on the chassis harness side, because it appears the relays aren't even doing anything I don't hear it clicking when I turn the key on and off the relays have also been changed as well as swapped out
can someone please explain exactly how all of this should work, there is another person on a different fourm who has the exact same issue/symptom except he doesn't know if his pin 4 is getting 12V when key is on "off" ( car at dad shop, only able to troubleshoot on weekend)
Of yea if this help we both have SOHC chassis with manual transmission
Thank you,
