You did a real good job onl your swap, it came out pretty clean, i'm working on mine now, just doing more while i have the truck down. (shave and tucked bay, repaint, redo the interior), hope i see some pics of yours later down the road. I did a writeup on the wiring from my truck (maybe it should be stickied?) and I'll do a start to finish writeup when I get time.
BTW the driveshaft does need to be cut and if you use the stock motor mounts the engine will sit wrong.

The chassis on the 87 hardbody should be the same (wiring will be different) and I don't see why you can't run an SR in a 4wd truck.
