Can anyone tell me how different the RWD SR 5-speed bellhousing is from an L20B 5-speed? Does it require the use of an SR transmission or can an old Datsun competition transmission still be used after the swap?

With an adapter plate, you could use the L20B trans. The bolt pattern between the block and the bellhousing are pretty different, if I remember correctly. I would see about having someone mill up an adapter if you really need to use the comp trans.

Thanks for the info. The owner really wants to use the Datsun transmission because it has a 1:1 5th gear and he's doing land speed stuff.
