PLEASE READ BELOW BEFORE BUYING SPEAKERS!!!!

There are three main speaker companies that I stock: Boston Acoustic and Hybrid Audio Technologies. For Boston Acoustic, I only stock their entry level S series. Hybrid Audio I stock pretty much everything. However, I will not sell Hybrid Audio if there is an authorized dealer in your area. I take being a Hybrid Audio dealer very seriously and online sales are not permitted. Granted, it's not like I have a shopping cart or anything, so my customers always have to talk to me via email or phone just to order. So I can still make sure my customers are getting what they need/want. However, I still do not want to step on any Hybrid dealer's toes. So if you are in the market for the best speaker on the planet, please email or call me about some Hybrids and I can recommend a local dealer or we can discuss it further.

So I will start out with the speakers I stock. Note: if you are looking for an Alpine, Rockford Fosgate or Boston Acoustic model that I do not stock, I can simply order it for you. However, when I order, there is a minimum amount that I must meet. So it may take 1-3 weeks to get your specific item into my store...... then up to another week to you. So please keep this in mind when inquiring about product. I usually try to push the product I stock for a couple of reasons: 1)I have it in stock and can get it shipped out to you stat. 2)This is the stuff I sell and install everyday to the average customer, so I am VERY familiar with it and will know what is going to be the best bang for your buck in your particular car. 3)If you have a blown speaker, I can simply ship you out a fresh one for warranty. Otherwise you would have to ship me yours and I would then have to ship it to the manufacturer for warranty.

Nice prices

Any of the high-end manufacturers going to come out with a replacement sub for the stock 10" in the G? JL has the TW5 but it's too big.

I'm not too familiar with the OEM sub woofer setup in the G. What are the requirements for the sub? Because Rockford has shallow mount subs now and Alpine will very soon. Albeit they are not as nice as the TW5

I believe the one on the right is the factory 10" mid-woofer. It's probably 2ohm like everything else Bose does.

Hey man, I asked you a couple of months ago if you could help me put together a good sound system for under 2k and you told me to wait until the new 2010 line came in, what do you think would be a good set up with good bass oh and also a remote starter and alarm. Thanks for the help.

Oh, you didn't tell me they were door speakers. You said "sub". What other speaker is there to go along with that? Depending on what other front speaker location there is available, it will be similar to the setup I do in the Vettes. I do a Hybrid Legatia L1 tweeter, L3 mid-range and L8 mid-bass driver. I usually do 150 watts to each L1 and L3, then 300 watts each to the L8's...... it will blow your socks off with 1200 watts for your front stage. Hybrid also has a Legatia 3-way passive x-over coming out so you could run the entire setup off of 2 channels instead of 6.

Here are a few pics of a Vette setup that I do:

Slightly modified opening:

Sound deaden entire door, especially to seal off the front waves from the back waves.

1/2" baffle for the 3" and 8"

Then sound deaden over the baffle.

The 3" and 8"

In the door.

L1 tweeter in the A-pillar. All Hybrid tweeters have amazing off-axis response. So you don't necessarily need to have them angled perfectly at you in every install..... they are installer friendly

I sent you a lengthy email back on 2/14, did you not get it!?!

Here is the email:

Adam- I think pretty much everything new that is coming out is out. So here is a system that will be a decent setup.... although you can go cheaper or more expensive in pretty much every category except the head unit. That Alpine double DIN is pretty much the best thing on the market. I only sell Alpine head units for a reason.... they are the best overall in my opinion. I have been doing this for 17 years and have carried every brand of head unit under the sun.... Kenwood, Kenwood Excelon, Pioneer, Pioneer Premier, Sony, Sony Mobile ES, Eclipse,Rockford Fosgate, Denon, Clarion, Clarion Pro Audio, Nakamichi, JVC and Alpine. Out of all of these, Alpine is always the easiest to use. Which is very important when you are using Nav etc. Alpine also has proven to be the most reliable, has the best iPod control(they are the ones that 1st started it), has a good look to them as far as aesthetics etc.

Head unit:

---Alpine INA-W900: $839 shipped. Has built in Nav. Bluetooth and backup are optional.

Speakers:

---Hybrid Audio Imagine Series 6.5" $199 per pair. These compete with other manufactures speakers that are in the $500 price range. They can be configured as a coax or a component and include all the necessary hardware.

Subwoofer:

---Anything JL Audio. They have seven different lines of subs. Maybe take a look at them and let me know what you might be interested in. The 12W3v3 is a great mid-range level subwoofer for $199. There are three levels of JL subwoofers above and below the W3.

Amplifiers:

---JL Audio HD series are going to be the bees knees. Great amplifier, great sound quality, very small amplifier, fully regulated smart power supply..... so it outputs rated power even down to 10.5 volts of battery voltage. These amplifiers are going to be expensive, but they have a really powerful 5-channel that would power everything in the car. Basically 100-110 watts for the front and rear channels, then 500 watts on the 5th channel for your subwoofer. I don't think there is any other 5 channel on the market that is that powerful, let alone in a chassis that small. The size really is mind boggling and offers up so many options for installation. You could literally fit 2 under each seat of a S13. This amplifier(HD 900/5) would run $829.

Quick math puts the 4 speakers, head unit, a 12W3 and the 5 channel to power everything at $2265 shipped. Like I said, you can go better or worse in most areas. You could always upgrade the front speakers to the Hybrid Clarus series or better. The sub you have a lot of options. The amplifier you are not going to get any better unless you spend a couple grand or unless you need to get two separate HD amplifiers because you want more power than what the 5 channel offers. However, an underrated 900 watts of power out that 5 channel is pretty decent amount of power. And if you are only doing one sub anyway, then it really fits the bill. Then of course the double DIN I already covered. If it's any consolation, my employees and I have access to pretty much any brand of head unit out there through my distributors....... and every single one of us run an Alpine head unit in our vehicle.

Let me know what you think so far. We can change, add, substitute things as we go. This should be a really nice starting point though. You can also trust my judgement, as I have personally installed everything under the sun into about 20,000 - 25,000 vehicles in my professional career.

Thanks,

Toby

As far as remote starter/alarm, I really like the 5901 and the 5902. I have the 5501(remote start only version of the 5901) on my Acura TL and love it. I sold probably 40 of the 5901's this past remote start season without a hiccup.

Thanks,

Toby

I can always bring some Hybrids to Import Alliance this year! Then you would be forced to buy them.

Lol yeah i don't think you sent that email to me since it says Adam but I kind of don't want a sub if I can help it but if thats the only way i can get really good sound then I guess thats my only choice. So, is that my only choice or can I upgrade the speakers to be able to make good bass? Thanks for answering me right away too.

PS: I don't know much about car audio and its probably apparent. So all the help you can throw my way helps alot.

Well, I must have you mixed up with someone else. You'll have to give me more info than you talked to me 2 months ago...... because that's about half of the people on this site What email address did you send it from, what car is this for?

Thanks,

Toby

I sent you an email and we can discuss your options.

Thanks Chris! For the price, you are going to love those Hybrids. Please follow the installation methods from their website...... it will get you everything you can from that set of speakers. Basically you want to do what I did on the Vette above. Seal off all of the holes in the door and try to make a baffle if you can... 1/4" or thicker if possible.

For the price I have never heard a set of speakers that sounded better than the hybrid audio "Imagine series"

They easily sound as good as the set of $500 Rockford Components I had in an old system.
