Just when you thought all the dealership techs do in your car or truck is change your radio station, readjust your seat, modify your A/C settings, and move your rearview mirror, this comes up. Stealing quarters, watching p0rn, and even licking your meds? Thank goodness this was Toyota. And all caught on hidden video.

I hate to see this type of petty theft ruin the trust many service department employees work hard to build.

There are a few things that I noticed about the videos. The person who is committing the theft is checking the mileage of the car and most likely the service writer. That is by no means justification but I find it interesting none the less. The guy in the video doesn't appear to have any type of insignia on his shirt. All of the dealers I've been to and worked in almost everyone that customers come into contact with has some type of uniform.

There have been many times when I need to move personal belongings to repair or diagnose something, but stealing never crossed my mind.

I hope the people who see this don't think we are all thieves. Although the prices are high at the dealer you should be able to trust the people you hand your keys over too.
