If you read the attached pdf you will see that this product only contains:Pale oil, naphtha, and IPA [isopropyl alcohol]. No detergents pretty useless [on that front] but it will do no harm. Note [from MSDS] that each version contains the same 3 ingredents just the % are juggled for different applications.

Similar to Marvel Mystery Oil.

PALE OILS are light coloured, non-staining naphthenic oils refined from specially selected wax-free crude through the use of severe hydrogenation. This process produces oils of excellent initial colour and colour stability while maintaining their compatibility with most synthetic elastomers.

The above could best be described as the semi synthetic oil found in oil of that genre.............a hydrogenated motor oil used to carry the two solvents

http://www.seafoamsales.com/pdf/MSDS_SFTT_US.pdf

You could buy a quality motor oil and mix in naptha and IPA and create the same product for less.

Never researched this product before but it is all explained in the MSDS sheet.

Interesting in that I thought your main concern for use in intake path was its level of caustic contents.

Neutral is certainly better than caustic.

Level of caustics---------like oven cleaner/lye [sodium hydroxide] attacks and dissolves aluminum?

I'n not promoting it, I'm DEMOTING it as a suitable product to use instead of BG cleaners.............lack of amine/amide detergents.

People always allude to BG44k is a ripoff because it cost $15..........just showing that most of the $5-$7-$9 products are nothing more than mixed solvents........which you could make yourself for far less assumming you don't mind mixing up a few quarts [3-6 applications worth].

THE Material Safety sheets tell all ingredents even the proprietary ones.

MSDS do not show everything only 'non-proprietary' stuff. In the case of SEAFOAM, there are detergent additives in the 'proprietary' unlisted ingredients

Are you sure as even Chevron [and every other product I checked] is required to list the generic family and % for it's trade secret on MSDS:

ALL the amides imides are classified as irritants so they would need to be listed if they exceed 1% RIGHT?

COMPONENTS CAS NUMBER AMOUNT Solvent naphtha (petroleum), light aromatic 64742-95-6 44 %wt/wt 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene 95-63-6 14 %wt/wt Polyalkylene amine Trade secret 6 %wt/wt Xylene 1330-20-7 1 %wt/wt 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene 108-67-8 0.3 %

As you can see from Techron Concentrate ABOVE [what's in stores] that only 6% is active the rest are things normally found in gasoline.

Wonderful - As soon as someone pins down the exact BG44K formulation, we can do a NICO group buy on all the ingredients (in railway tanker-sized quantities!) and divy up the resulting mixture...

Put me in for 25 gallons!

Here is a link to the [5691] thousands of fuel additive products available:http://www.epa.gov/otaq/regs/f...t.htm

Illegal to sell without EPA registration

http://www.crcindustries.com/faxdocs/msds/6151.pdf = 30-40% by volume of amine detergent. The above recommends 1 ounce of product per 16 gallons of gasoline, as you can see it's 5-6.5 times more concentrated................look like the real bargain product to me.

Not a problem - We could take 'donations' for 'research' from members instead, and label the containers "EXPERIMENTAL - NOT FOR SALE OR GENERAL PUBLIC USE".

My point was there are no secret ingredents the EPA knows every component. It does not test them just logs and assigns a tracking number.

Q45tech, are you being serious or sarcastic about the CRC product listed being a bargain? If serious Advance Auto has it in stock for $9.88 per 8 oz.thanks, I really enjoy the board.

I remember sitting around as a youngster reading the J.C. Whitney catalog (late 60s) and wondering how they could have so many pages of different "pour in the tank" perfomance enhancers.

So tonight I was looking around the J.C.W. catalog and found the incredible

Run-Rite Snake Tool

Just stick the snake in your intake and let it eat up all those nasty deposits.
