Hows it going I was wondering if one of you guys could help me out here. I Was wondering if there was a diffrence btw the s14 and s15 wiring harness, i heard there is two variations of the s14 harness? is this because of OBD1 vs OBD2? i also heard the s15 coil pack harness is diffrent from the s14? is this true? i cant seem to find a straight answer. im lookin for a s15 harness but i cant seem to find it anywhere so this is why im asking if you could point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it thanks everyone

There is no OBD in Japan. The main difference between the s14 and s15 engines are the fact that s15 coil packs have the ignitor integrated into them.

If you do not have a s15 harness and need a harness to work.....buy an s14 harness and s14 coil packs. It will work perfectly.

Oh and yes I have heard that there are two variations of the s14 harness. I think they changed it on the 97-98 model but its still all the same stuff. The pinout may just be different. All you have to do is get one and integrate it with your KA harness.

the s14 harness is available in zenki or kouki. They each use a diferent ecu. So if you get a zenki harness get a zenki ecu.

hey guys thanks alot for your help. If i do run an s14 harness and coil packs with the s15 engine will i have to run an s14 computer also or can i use my s15 ecu? or does it even matter? some ying yang before me did a nice hack attack job and i figure it would jus be easier to replace the whole harness than rip my hair out trying to solder heat shrink and try replace all the broken connectors

No I don't think you can run the s15 ecu because of the difference in coil packs. You should be able to find a s14 ecu for sale pretty easily. My friend actually has one for sale. I know he has the s14 harness too and I want to say its already converted over so it should be plug and play. I know he has a few coil packs but I don't think he has the whole set. Email me [email protected] if you want more info on it.

the s14 motor use 370cc injectors instead of 480cc so you would need a set of 370cc or get a tune for 480cc injectors.

Oh yea thats one thing I forgot. I have a set of 370cc out of that same s14 engine if you are interested also.

Hmmm I wonder if after you buy all this s14 stuff that if it would be cheaper to find a s15 harness. But thats one problem. S15 harnesses are hard to find and expensive. Also if one of those coil packs ever go bad, they are expensive also.

Actually if you bought some 370cc injectors and sold your s15 480cc injectors, you would actually be making money.

The S15 harness should plug into an S14 late model ECU from 1997-1998 and the pinouts are at least relatively similar, though I would download the FSM's to confirm the wires. The S14 harness would have an igniter chip on it while the S15 has the power transistors built into each individual coilpack. So that may be a problem, most of the sensors in the engine itself are the same however.

I have an S15 motor, running an S14 harness with an S14 ecu. The wiring works fine, just dont bother hooking the ignitor up. (I think my connectors are clipped off and the wires are just wired straight across, if you know what I mean).

As for the coilpacks, I do not think you can run S14 coils on an S15 motor. The S14 coils are physically bigger and will not fit through the holes of the S15 valve cover.

No you are wrong about the valve covers. S14 and S15 valve covers are the same. I know for sure you can put s14 coil packs in a s15 engine. My friend has a s15 motorset in his shop and I test fitted a s14 coil pack in there.

He searched for months for a s15 engine harness and had to get a friend of his in japan to mail one to him. I think it took a month or two. He didn't know you could use s14 stuff.

Oh ok, I was not sure. I was talking to a shop while trying to figure out which motor I had.

Yes, I just skipped the ignitor all together.
