I searched around a little and havent been able to answer my questions, so of course i turn to nico.this is kind of a 2 part question so bear with me. first off:

on my s13 sr20det blacktop, on the upper water neck outlet (the one that dips under the cas) i know there is a sensor thats supposed to go in the top of it. and iirc that sensor is for the ecu. when i bought my car, that sensor was never hooked up. will that effect the way the engine runs and how bad is it to not have it hooked up.

2nd question:

i need a new water neck outlet and i can;t find an s13 sr neck anywhere, just the s14 neck. from what i read, the s14 neck is an upgrade for the s13 neck. is this true? and if the aforementioned sensor is needed, i dont see any spot for it in the s14 neck.

i appreciate any help and if its confusing to anyone i'll try to reword it. thank you

edit- heres a pic of the s14 neckhttp://www.frsport.com/Genuine....html

I'm pretty sure theres no sensor that goes into the upper water neck for either the s13 or s14 SR. Maybe your getting it confused w/ the themostat housing?

The s14 waterneck isn't necessarily a upgrade. But theres a extra port on the waterneck to allow you to connect your turbo coolant line rather than using the one that goes behind the motor. This will make it a lot easier to work on if you ever have any issues in the future.

On the S14, and S13, that plug is used as a bleeder screw, to bleed the coolant.
