Do they bolt right in or is there some modification that needs to be done?

The S14 seats should bolt right in.

You will need to mod the seatbelt connector.

I just did this 2 days ago with my '93 S13 coupe.

When people say "they bolt right in", I was expecting an easy process, and while it certainly wasn't HARD per se, it was a little irritating.

I found that putting seats in cars, even putting the originals back, is a big pain in the arse. I spent about an hour and a half trying to figure out what order to tighten the bolts to get everything to line up, and then found that one bolt just wouldn't sit back in its original hole for anything (it eventually did, after about 30 min of trying).

One thing to mention is that the seatbelt sensor is different between S13 and S14. You'll want to take your S13's seatbelt piece and attach it to the S14 driver's seat so that the connectors will match up, because otherwise (I presume), you'd get the little "seatbelt" light all the time, which would drive me nuts.

The S14 seats are very comfy though, and I like the cloth ones in my S13 better than the leather ones in my 1998.

I paid $200 for mine, friggin' great mod, worth every penny. Now I need to dye my rear seat black to match.

I put in the seats.I also didn't need to mod anything. The seats went in and bolted perfectly. Everything lines up, completely bolt on.

Sorry if I repeat what others have said but I really didnt feel like reading the whole thread.

Anyways, the S14's will bolt right in to the S14. Also dont bother modifying the seat belt plug. Just un-bolt the seatbelt from the side of the seat with your 14mm socket (or open end wrench, or creseant or maby some plyers, make it your choice).

After you do that bolt the S13 seatbelt on there and VWA LA! you have yourself some sick *** s14 seat action.

I will post a pic of my S14 seats in my S13 just for you. I just recovered them so they might not look like yours but its a good idea of what they are like.

BTW: I have plenty of head room (although im only 5' 11") and it seems to sit you just right. The S14 seats are quite a bit wider than the S13's I warn you now so if you ever used to reach into the car and pop your hatch or gas thank you will have to open the door first.

Try loosening the other front bolt a little, then sliding the seat back and forth (like you do when you adjust it before driving) a few times. I had to do that when I took mine apart to dye them....

Also, if you don't want to use your S13 seatbelt (maybe it looks worse than the newer one?), you can buy a little 2-wire quick-disconnect for RC cars from Radio Shack. If you do that, e-mail me and I'll tell you how to wire it. Takes 5 minutes. Later. Good luck.

Sorry to necropost fella's. But I've been dying to know. After bolting on the s14 seats onto a s13 hatch can you still fold down the seats without any problems? I'm looking to do it but if I lose the fold down feature I just might not.

Yeah, the seats still fold forward and back. Everything works fine. Or are you talking about the rears? That's a whole different thing.

same thing with the rears... its not a common conversion (because there's a lot more modifying needed), but it's dooable, they still fold down.

I just meant that the conversion was different (as in not just a bolt-on). But yeah, adrian's right. It can be done, and it has, but it's not as easy.

mine bolted in fine as well, but the s14 seat harness is different but it does not cause the seat belt light to flash. seats came off a 97 s14.

I just changed to the s-14 seats(6'1") Still plenty of headroom and they bolted right in. I found tightening the rear bolts on the trans tunnel side helped line all the others up . Mine are off a '95 and did not have any seat belt connection problems. Much more comfortable! Like someone else said, they do seem a little wider so it's tougher to get to the gas release cable. Pulling the hatch isn't so bad but the push for the gas is difficult.

THE BACKSEATS WILL NOT FIT PROPERLY. THE S14 SEAT BACK CAN FIT OK WITH SOME MODIFICATION, BUT THE BUTT/BOTTOM PART WON'T EVEN COME CLOSE. THE FOAM IS A WAY DIFFERENT SHAPE. I'VE TRIED.

Isn't that a trunk model not a hatch? Is it the same mod for a hatch?

I installed s14 seats into my hatch a while back, and they will fit with this mod:The rear bolts will go in fine, but the front of the rail have to be bent down slightly ( I used a mini sledge hammer) to get the same angle the s13 seat rails have. Other than that no problems and I have been running them going on 6 months now.Hope this answers your questions.
