Yesterday, while driving back to home, a driver decided to reverse. I though she is going to stop. I slowed down. She kept on coming  . So I stopped, assuming she already saw me. Nope! she kept coming   . I honk...and this is what happens  :

The damage is only the bumper cover. Thankfully the headlamp )including its brackets), fog light (the brackets are on the bumper), the front grill, the fender are all OK. At least this is what the guys at the body shop said. I didn't see a damage as well. Next week, when they remove the bumper cover, I hope there won't be any surprises...

I recorded the accident with my dashboard camera:

I could reverse the car or move away. but I never thought she wont stop! Actually I did the right thing by stopping, the doors or ever worse the front wheel might get damaged. :crybaby

Study: More female drivers mistakenly hit gas pedal
WASHINGTON (AP) — Accidents in which drivers mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brake tend to involve older female drivers in parking lots, a new government study has found.

One of the study's most striking and consistent findings was that nearly two-thirds of drivers who had such accidents were female. When looking at all crashes, the reverse is true — about 60 percent of drivers involved in crashes are male, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration study noted.

WOW! Serious rip-off! Should have only cost half that much.

Yes, I agree. A serious rip-off.

I didn't want to go to a random body shop and leave the car there. This body shop was next to the Nissan dealer that I bought my Nissan. They give warranty etc. But the paint is terrible...What else can I do..try to live with it...

It's a good thing you had the entire incident recorded on a dashcam. Otherwise, the other driver could've disputed that you had run into her (instead of her backing up) - which would've been a huge headache to prove in that case.
I could reverse the car or move away. but I never thought she wont stop!
I don't think it would be a good idea to reverse your car or suddenly swerve to the side in order to avoid the other driver. If you had done that and accidentally hit someone else, then you'd be at fault.

From an insurance-fault perspective, sometimes it's best to just let your car take the hit and then deal with the consequences later.

Hope everything works out for you though!

You are right. The best thing was to wait. It happened in seconds...

I purchased my Rogue in February 2011 and got rear ended on August 2011. Rear bumper and driver seat assembly changed. Now Front bumper changed. It is a 2011 car with 16.000 km on it, but two bumpers already changed. I have no idea how am I going to sell this car?
