Just modified my manifold so that you I could actually bolt up a wastegate without it interfering with the steering shaft. I know there has been some interest in this mod from other threads, so here is my method. All I did was cut off the stupid 50mm HKS flange, mock up where I wanted my Tial 44mm wastegate to go, and then cut and trim the manifold/elbow until it fit. Plenty of wiggle room right there and tons of space to run a 3" downpipe with the 44mm wastegate pipe. I would have run 2 separate Tial 44's (or 38's), but my manifold is modified for a single scroll.

NICE!!! I was thinking of doing that with the 46mm gate that I have. The 50mm would fit betweeen the block and manifold..

Sweet!!

Julio,
Which manifold did you modify? Peak / Wasabi /fleabay / S-Tec?

Ebay FTL! Got it fairly cheap, so I decided I would try it out first. If it cracks, I'll just buy an S-Tec and do the same to it. Its only about a week of downtime. The runners on it are pretty thick though.

Meet07: Yea, you could probably fit a really big wastegate in there if you position it right, especially if you get a newer shorter tial. Plus this way the wastegate recirc piping is short.

Car only has 200 break-in miles on it, so I can't really say. What concerns do you have?

I have a performance question also, i just bought one of these and i was wondering if it hurt your turbo spool at all, i port matched it with a die grinder but some of the welds inside i cant get to to clean, i was just wondering what you did.

They make bits that have a 8-10" shanks on them if its a length issue. I didn't have any nasty welds in mine to grind away. Port matching is another story though. Most manifolds will have it to some degree.
