Figured I'd share this little project with everyone. So a few months ago I had a 1999 R34 dropped into my lap for a tune. According to the owner it ran great as a stock setup, but once they put the turbo upgrade and haltech on it it never ran right. then just died. Started out the car didn't run and just needed a new base map on the haltech and for it to be tuned. First I found the TPS was cracked and no good anymore. Still nothing. So as I start digging into it and trying to figure out why the car won't start I come across problem after problem after problem. Can't ever get the haltech working correctly, so we decide to ditch it and swap over to a power fc. so next step is to remove the haltech. simple right? i mean it was installed right beside the factory ecu so they just wired it into the harness there right? NOPE. they ran the haltech harness on top of the factory harness, cut all the plugs off the factory harness and then wired them onto the haltech harness. ok, so I'll pull that. clean up some wiring and make it pretty. while i'm at it i'll extend some harnesses and tuck a few wires here and there. No biggy again right? WRONG AGAIN!!! lol this thing was all kinds of spaghetti. Wires and Vac lines going EVERYWHERE. from the trunk of the car all the way to the front. So after many many many many many many many many many hours working on it and countless trips to the hardware store and auto parts store I got the engine bay clean up (with the help of mark. thanks alot man) got allt he wiring redone and stock plugs back in place. Had to source a r33 series 1 idle air control since the series 2 is totally different and he had a series 1 manifold on the car. Also after all the hard starting and trying to get her to run the starter finally gave out. had to pull it and go have it rebuilt. at this time i found a ton of extra plugs just hanging under the car. this threw me for a loop again. nothing new right? i chalk it up to getting the car over here ect. soooo...engine is done. wiring completely redone, new tps, basically yanked everything that wasn't a motor out of the engine bay, cleaned it up, rerouted and made it clean. now onto the interior wiring. ALL KINDS OF MESS IN HERE! I spent almost 2 whole days sorting through the mess inside the car and getting it all cleaned up. Apperently whomever owned the car before this guy had alot of half a** work done. all the alarm wiring was just "wrapped" around the wire for a connection instead of soldered or crimped. the clutch switch was just hanging and not even set up functional (which it needs to be for safety reasons.)also had a bunch of wires just cut and hanging. not hooked up to anything. So anyway got all that finally cleaned up today and got the wideband installed and the turbo timer hooked up properly. all wiring is now done. the car does start (FINALLY) BUT there is a miss. will be troubleshooting that next weekend and then should be able to tune it and hand it back to the owner. I will be glad when this thing is done. It's a shame to see it treated the way it has been. anyway enough ranting. on to the pics.

Nice work! I would have looked at that thing and ran! Those pictures are probably going to give me flashbacks to when I cleaned up my swap wiring harness. <shivers>

So why is it missing now? You found a few of the coil packs are faulty?

Looks and sounds great. Seems like the electrical system in the biggest problem.
