Hi,

Suppose I buy a new ECM for my 2001 I-30, do I need to reprogram it. If so, how much would it cost? Can I replace the ECM by myself?

Hi,

I have to replace the ECM of my '01 Infiniti I-30. The dealership said that they do not let out the part number. Is there any way to find out the part number?

Thanks,Sarath

Call Midway or Pinnacle Infiniti. Their number can be found by clicking on their banner adds in this thread.zerothread/119692 They are NICO sponsors, so they should be willing to help you out.

If you have to shell out the $$$ to the stealership think of going with an aftermarket stand alone system, like the "AEM EMS" or "HKS F-con v pro". For the money you'll spend on a factory ECM this might be an option.

Hello my name is Greg,
I have a 2000 Infinity i30 that I am working on. I have replaced the Throttle Position Sensor, Idle Air Control Valve, Cam Position Sensor, Crank Angle sensor Ref and Poss. The car starts but will not stay running, it goes up to 3000 rpm and slowly drops off and dies. It struggles to keep running if you peddle the gas but has no power. If I send my ECM out for repairs in stead of flat replacement will I require any additional program adjustments from a certified repair specialists? I hear that when the IACV goes bad it causes the ECM to Fail. Is this true, Thank you for any support or comments.

Yes, when the IACV goes bad (usually, its winding becomes "short") it is quite likely that it will damage the ECU; in particular, the shorted winding will overload and "fry" the driver transistors in the ECU. When that happens, it's essential that you repair the IACV before replacing the ECU, or the problem will repeat itself. Re. the ECU, if whomever you sent your ECU to will repair it properly (and that's a big IF), then you should not require any additional adjustments.

There is a ton of information on this subject on maxima.org.

Thank you, maxiiboy, for supporting NICO club members. I have seen your postings and they are really helpful. But I suggest that you refrain from referring members to a competing car forum.

Recently I had a good experience with Foreign ECU Repair. They tested the old ECU and found it to be bad. The located a replacement (rare 5-speed 99 model) and shipped it to me for $250 total with an 18 month warranty. Since the old could not be repaired they returned it also. I guess I'll know for sure in 18 months how it turned out. I still have a problem but I doubt it is ECU related at this time.
