fiddled with the 10 inch SUB today at my friends shop! we tried different setups, tried some 10 inch gigantic powerful subs rattled the whole car but little bass! tried the flat shallow subs and it sounds pretty good and its cheaper , did the one 12 and two 12inches in a box sealed and ported ! and man it was tiring installing and re installing and lifting boxes and putting different speakers in em ! whoooooaaaaaa! if you want space in your trunk go with a shallow flat sub , i know we tried kicker and MTX and both were nice and you didnt have to buy a box and you will have all the room you want without spending too much money!
for you bass freaks ! 2 twelves or 2 tens are more than good! just remember to take out the stock 10 inch out so you can have the bass sound flow through if not , you will have some bass but not as loud ! and we tried all kinds of music and all the setups had ample bass and good quality sound !

hey 06m4.5 , like i said in the first part we did replace the 10 inch sub with other brands of subs in the stock mount and i said the shallow flat faced subs are the ones that worked thier pretty good , a buddy of mine used a JL i think it was a W3 or W6 in it and it rocked but thats a heavy sub for that stock mount , if you do that my buddy recommends you reinforce that mount due to that speaker being so heavy and when the bass hits ! i think just a nice 10 inch shallow flat face kicker is good enough for a nice bass and a 150 - 300 watt amp pushing it is fine , thats what we tried ! best part of all you got all the room in your trunk and saving some money on one sub !

definitely interested in seeing some snapshot of aftermarket sub in stock mount. Question for you and possibly your friend, is there a way we can integrate an Equalizer into the stock Bose unit?

To add an EQ you would need to take all the signals you want to EQ, convert them to line level and feed them into a channel of the EQ. Then coming out of the EQ you would go into your power amplifier and then from there to the speakers.

I dont think you can just insert a channel of EQ in between the line output of the Bose integrated preamp and the integrated power amp, Im pretty sure there are no wires to splice like that. You would have to intercept the signal post Bose unit, which by then the signal is already speaker level.

Enigma I just mounted the pioneer shallow mount 10" 2ohm 1200 watt sub and at same point as described. My audio shop said they would tale speaker outs from bose and have to go to a digital processor, convert to digital signal, process,eq, then output rca to an amp that way you are bascially bypassing the whole bose amp thing. without talking it out or losing functionality and you can control of the center channel as well?

he said a JBL- MS-8 would do it?
