My info screen is severly scratched and I'm looking at purchasing another and replacing the screen. Does anyone have instructions on how to do properly do this? Do I have to remove the dash to replace the screen?

Are you willing to up front the cash for another complete Nav unit??
If not, then your out of luck man.
Infiniti didnt make the actual screen separate from the Nav unit.
Your going to have to use some of these techniques in either of these links or search the net for other scratch repair remedies:

Thanks for replying, the second link didn't come through. Is it possible for you to try to resend?

You're right, I don't want to purchase another complete Nav Unit but these screens sell separately on eBay and I thought that rather than spending $800 for the nav unit, I could spend about $150-$200 for just the screen and potentially install it myself. I'm just concerned that I will have to remove the entire dash to do it.

My screen has several deep scratches on it, so even replacing it with a used one with a couple scratches would be a marked improvement.

Do you have the Nav screen, or the non-nav?

I just pickedup the Nav unit for my '06 M35, and it comes with the screen. If you want my old screen, I can sell you that...

I don't have the Navigation, am just looking to replace the non-nav screen. I'd be interested in purchasing if you would be willing to take a few pictures for me ([email protected]). Do you know much about replacing the screen, complicated?

Thanks,
Brian

The screen should be an independently replaceable unit. I know that Infiniti has standardized their LCDs, but not sure how far the current LCD goes back.

To the OP ... Although screen protectors are normally put on for preventive measures, I can send you a scrap piece of 3M screen protector to see if it covers up your scratch if you shoot me a PM with your address. We can see how it works and take it from there. ;)

Replacing the info screen is very easy to do. My 2006 M35 came without the nav and I installed the factory navigation. Start by removing the wood finish above the glove box. There are 3 tabs on the underside of the glovebox holding this in place. once this is removed, you will have access to remove the center console. The small piece wood finish on the left of the console pops right off. once you have the console removed, take off the center mesh vent above the info screen. This also pops out but be careful you don't damage it. Once this is off remove the air conditioning vents. After this, you will see that there are 2 bolts behind the nav screen holding it in place. disconnect the wire clip attached to it and remove the bolts. That's it.
I say wood finish above but its whatever finish you have in your car.

radigan,
WOW! Thank you for the detailed instructions. I feel much better about attempting this myself now. Very appreciative of your kindness.

terrycs,
I appreciate the offer but the scratches I have on my screen are more like deep gauges. They aren't surface scratches so I'm not sure the 3M film will help that. If you think it's still a possibility, I may take you up on the offer. I've included a picture to give you and everyone a better picture of the scratches I'm referring to.

Hi folks, does anyone know if a navigation display from a 2006 m35 will work for a 2006 m35 w/o navigation?
