OK. Has anyone tried removing the interior trim in your A/C?

Specifically, the door pull trim,

the steering wheel trim,

And the shift gate,

I am thinking about painting them or something.

Anyone tried this or know how to remove them?

Mike

Found this: http://forums.altimas.org/zerothread/340907 for the door pull trim. So does anyone know if the steering wheel trim comes off just the same?

And let's not forget the shift gate?

Thanks.

Mike

You have to remove the airbag to take off the steering wheel trim. Its bolted onto the sides of the airbag from behind.

Excuuuuuuse me. New here. And I did search, but depending on what keywords used, results vary. I was using the term insert, instead of trim.

I truly appreciate the help on this. I will probably tackle the door pieces first. Not sure about the steering wheel trim now that I know they are connected to the airbag. Not looking to screw that piece of safety equipment up.

Again, thanks to all who helped. I am enjoying this forum.

How does one remove that push door thing infront of the shifter as well as the centre radio /vent moldings?

I just did this to put in a new double din radio. If you slip a screwdriver (blue taped) behind the top right corner of the vents and pull it'll pop out. Work your way down near the bottom and pull pretty dang hard and it will pop out again. Then maintain pressure on that side and pull the opposite side out. Now you'll need to unplug the airbag and hazard cables.

Next open the lower door to the cubby and reach above that door under the stereo and pull down and a little trim piece will come off the radio.

Now you need to shift the car into neutral and remove the shift knob. I'm assuming you can do this because I think you replaced yours already. Now pull up on the trim piece around the shifter to remove it.

Finally you can push up from the very back/inside of the cubby and it should pop up a bit. Then pull forward very carefully and you should be able to remove the cubby. I say carefully because I broke the mechanism that allows the cubby to open slowly.

I think this should work but I should also mention I had the stereo removed as well when I took the cubby out.

Sorry, if it helps any, each paragraph was how to remove each section of the trim. So first the vents, next the piece under the stereo, than the shifter and shift trim, last the cubby.

Here's this: http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Altima/2008/int.pdf

Might just be more confusing to you but I use it all the time and I like it.

Removing interior trim= rohcket siense
tug and pull on everything. Screws here bolts there.
First lift up on your shift boot base. It pops out.
Then tug on your chubby, Sorry meant cubby.
It will come out. Its held in place by 2 tabs.
The removal of the Stereo and vents are not necessary IF you have a 6 speed.
1st remove this

then pull on the cubby!
Itll come out.

This post was from B88dragon when he CF wrapped his interior. I ws the first one to do but I can't find the pics or my DIY. The center console was a pain in the A$$ but it was one of those things when you have the console out, you're at the point of no return. I'll dig some more and see what I find and post them up for you to see.

[quote="b88dragon"]So I got some vinyl this pass weekend, and was bored so decided to change up my dash board a little bit as well the two trim pieces on the steering wheel as well. It was my first time working with this stuff, but after enough research and what not I got the basic idea on how to do it.

So enjoy everyone, it was my first time but i think it turned out good.

It was a pain taking this apart, especially this cubby part, it was really annoying.
