Well, in trying to make my son learn to work on his car on his own, we have had a major accident occur. He left a wrench and screw driver laying on the back of the roof and put the top down. He cracked the rear window just left of center from top to bottom! I have read the supplement, and to honest I don't understand half of what it says. I also read one thread that if I was doing it while reading may make sense but am not sure. Is replacing the rear window that can be done without a lot of expertise, or is it something that really needs a pro to do it right? Any help suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

James Stewart, Grace Kelly. Excellent Alfred Hitchcock movie. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047396/

I'd have a pro do it too. Sorry.

Machine sew a back window into existing rear curtain, probably about $200. New curtain and window, about $350. These are estimates I've gotten in the past.

Try a place the specializes in fabric if you can't find it at WalMart.

Sorry it took me so long to respond. The Wal-Marts near me carry clear vinyl in the fabric section, rolled up on big scrolls. It comes in several thicknesses, and you of course will want the beefiest they have. I think it was $3 a yard or so, maybe less, and I bought WAY more than I needed.

OK, thanks. I put the wife on the case. She says they took the fabric department out of the WalMart I went to, but there is another one about 6 miles away that has fabric department. She is going to look into it for me.

Good luck, BiXLL.The adhesive is sold in the automotive department, near the touch-up paint I think.

Surprisingly, the cheap-o's on here (no offense guys, just poking some fun) have done very good jobs on their rear window replacement. If you want to take a crack at it, heck, it's only $10.

Personally, I wouldn't want to mess with it. My wife and I had the rear window replaced by a professional in our old white vert. It cost $100, but it was kind of a side-job. I wouldn't suspect it to cost more than $200 though.

When it comes time to replace it in the silvert, I'm probably going to go with the tinted one - that looks awesome. I can't remember who has it here, but it was a red vert with tinted sides too.

If you DIY the rear window, at least use the marine vinyl which has UV protectant in it. Otherwise you'll be replacing the window pretty often due to yellowing and cracking.

Go to a boat store and ask for it...
