A good set of channel locks with turn it back good. Theres a tool for it but again, channel locks or a firm grip with needle nose pliers will do it.

yeah i doubt you will do ne thing with a c clamp. at any part store they sell a screw type caliper tool it is a little block that is used with a 3/8 ratchet.

The rear calipers are threaded so using a c-clamp to compress them will damage them. You need this tool or a pair of needle nose pliers to compress the piston.S13 Rear Brake Pad Install zerothread?id=243067

if you dont get the tool and use vise grips or pliers be careful to not tear the boot or strip the groves on the piston or you'll be buying a new caliper.

Whoops! We said vise-grips when we meant needle nose pliers! Sorry!

Please, if you know how to use the tools you already have to complete the job without any harm and just as fast as if you had said tool - you're still doing it right.
