Hi, I am planning on doing a rb26dett swap into my r32 gts4 here soon and was wondering if anyone knows how to do it and if they could give me some pointers on how it should be done.

that is assuming an r32 engine is used.also use the rb20 oilpan as the final drives are different.

What is better to do, keep my gts4 transmission with the rb26 or put in the rb26 transmission as well.

trick is the front diff...iirc the gts-4 has a slightly different front and rear final...so if you get the two mis matched the trans will assplode.

Yeah, a GTS4 is 4.38's like a GTSt and the R has 4.1's. You'll need to make them match.

Do you guys know how the wring is? Is it alot of wiring work or does most of it just hook up to my car and also can i do the swap by just buying the engine and having all the plumbing hooked up to my car besides the fuel pump.

A couple of the wires in the loom need to be switched around, but it's nothing major. You'll have to research which ones though. There are plenty of wiring diagrams out there. I hope your not looking for a step by step walk though from this thread.

Bottom line, it's a relatively easy swap, but you'll have to search a little.

I'm in the process of doing this now actually. I've found a couple of things extra that need to be mentioned here.

Make sure you get the following parts with your swap:

Power Steering ReservoirBoth complete AC hosesThrottle Body Cable

One of the A/C Hoses will have to be changed due to an inline container in the low pressure hose is in a different spot in the stock GTS-4 line and will interfere with accessories or plumbing. This hose is about $150.00 from the Nissan Dealer. I believe current part number is 92480-05U00. I didn't have to order it because a friend had an extra one.

Also Power Steering reservoir is an oval shape to compensate for the extra intake on a GTR, in a GTS-4, it's round, so that will have to be changed to make room. This bolts to the fender well and may not be part of your swap unless you specify.

The Throttle Body Cable will have to be changed out - if you didn't get it. You may be able to get the original to work, but just do it right. It's like $45.00.

I used the original Front Diff from the GTS4 rather than changing out the Rear Diff for the GTR.

Had to buy intakes, I'm using Apexi's.

Using my Greddy GTS-4 FMIC will require reducers to compensate for the GTR plumbing diameters. (3.25 to 2.25 x 2 - For all you metric folks, this is in inches)

Also the AEM UEGO is using a different sized bung in the down pipe that I'll have to get welded to the proper size, but I'm using an aftermarket downpipe so you may not encounter this one.

So far that's all I've encountered. This should be all that needs to be done for intial start up. I found a great place online for the coupler/reducers.http://www.siliconeintakes.com. The couplers are the last things I'm waiting on.

At some point, I will powder coat the valve covers, coil cover and timing cover on the GTR. I also purchased the R34 Coil Cover emblem for $80.00 from http://www.rhdjapan.com but later found it for $40.00 on http://www.nismoparts.com - DARN IT!

I also will have to get new intercooler piping made since the intake/charge pipe system is routed entirely differently on the RB26DETT and the RB20DET But that's a cosmetic thing and I can cut down my existing pipes to "make" this work, but it won't be pretty.

Hope this helps. Clearly the people that say bolt it in and go, have never done it before.
