Anyone know if it's possible to take an RB25 and stroke it like an RB30? I know the RB30 has a longer block which gives it more room, but a 25 has easier part access, etc.

I'm torn between these two motors. I want the RB25 sound with the RB30 torque and I'm trying to find a way to get both lol.

Nope sorry man. The RB30 gets that extra displacement from about an extra half inch of stroke. Even if the RB26 bores were long enough to accommodate that stroke, the block would have to be notched to clearance the rods as they traveled around. Why don't you just buy an RB30 block and slap an RB25 or RB26 head on it like everyone else? :gapteeth:

I'm debating on it lol. It's driving me nuts. I've been talking to Carl and he convinced me to ditch the 20 and the 26, now I'm not sure if I want a NEO 25 or a 30 with a NEO head.

I want that torque so bad but in my opinion the 25 just makes the best noise lol. I gotta love driving as much as I love the way it pulls, ya know?

Why don't you go with a VH or LS swap instead?

I think my RB30 sounds pretty damn good? Many others who have heard it in person would agree, including random strangers, some of which who followed me till I stopped to tell me how nasty it sounds along with a big "WTF'S! in that thing?!?!". There is a subtle difference IMO between the 25 and 30 sound, to me its just at the same RPM the 25 sounds like its reving a bit higher than it really is. As long as your keeping a DOHC head (rb26/25) its going to sound damn close. They sound even better with some cams and an aftermarket intake and exhaust manifold.

For me it was all about the ultimate RB IMO, which is a 3.0 from experience, it out spools, out torques and out performs period on pump 93 when comparing identical setups on an rb25/26 to a 30. So for a street/occasional track car that was the winning ticket for me.

If I could have done it all over again I would have started with a 30 instead of working my way up. Not everyone will agree with my above statements on engine preference, its just my personal opinion based on experience.

I'm talking about the actual RB engine sound that kicks in around like 5k or so. When the guy in the video punches it.
