Recently finished up my rb20 swap and i had a B&M SS for the old KA. I saw the writeup to use it for the RB trans but it seemed like a lot of work. I owe this idea to my dad and it works perfectly so far. The only real problem with using the KA B&M SS is that the hole for the shifter sits too far back. All that needed to be done was to cut off a piece from the front of the shifter plate and move it to the back. A quick slice with the cutoff wheel and a trip to the machine shop and it worked out nicely. I had them weld the piece on the back and fill 4 of the holes. All i had to do was drill the holes to line up with the RB trans. Pretty easy and it was only $45 at the machine shop. No need to bevel the inside or anything. I haven't taken it for a drive but it goes into all the gears smoothly. I'll update when i get on the road. Just need to get my exhaust welded up and i'm good to go. Hope this helps. Anyway i'll let the pics explain.

Yeah, but I figure its aluminum so it prob. won't corrode. I was just teasing anyway!

Yea my dad got me a powder coating gun for christmas so i might do that but it's true i wont be looking at it often. It feels great so far. I should have it on the road next week. The stock shifter felt so sloppy so i'm happy this worked out.

why did you hack up the shifter? if you followed the instructions here:zerothread?id=112010All you would have had to do is make one hole! And use your KA striker arm!

But... None the less way to think out side the box!

well i'm using top hat mounts so the shifter is lined up right to begin with and i didn't want to have to bevel the shifter so it goes in 2nd 4th and reverse. If i really wanted to i could have made it look new but i just slapped it on cuz noones gonna look at it and it's not gonna rust or anything.

Got the car out on the road and the modified b&m shifter works perfectly. I'm loving it and definitely glad i did it. Not sure if it works any better than the other way in the writeup but it seems a lot simpler to me. If i could tig weld it would have been a free mod.

lol nice allen bolt access hole to add gear oil.i guess if you're running any kind of mount kit this is good but i personally think the ka striker works better.each to his own.

Why do you say the KA striker arm works better? The center hole is aligned perfectly now, not 15mm off like with the KA striker.

for me using the ka striker is better as i have the r32 xmember, and 3mm difference is barely noticable to anyone but you.mount kits are like you said different.
