Edit : If you're reading this right now and you're on dial-up. Go run 3 miles and come back, this thread has a TON of pictures. Some of you know I've been thinking of going KA-T about a month ago.Well, I have. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://images.nicoclub.com/forums/image ... /smile.gif" BORDER="0"> and it's done.Me and my dad did the all work in our little garage and it purrs like a kitten.

Enough talk!!MOAR PICTURES.

Here is my blacked out intercooler. Stealthy!

Turbo

BOV flange welded by a local guy.

Oil pan bung welded and painted.

Took off the oil pan and took a peak up my engine. Cleaan.

If you ever want to take off the oil pan, this is how I did it.First, undo the motor mounts. Then lift up the transmission here.Keep lifting and you should see this. Also there are 2 triangle braces where the transmission and engine meet, take that off, then you can access the rest of the oil pan bolts. Then remove the oil pick up and slide it out, if it gets stuck, lift it some more.It looks like this when you're done.

Enough article-esque chit-chat.More turbo related pictures!Everything! Those are turbo coolant lines running in front of the engine.Close up of how they are run. I took the coolant lines away from the throttle body and ran it over to the turbo. The black thing is a slice of rubber hose to keep the lines from "taptaptaptaptap"ing against each other as I drive. The coolant line from the engine and the line from the turbo are joined by a hose, this let me flex the piping around to find a good spot for them to sit on.The coolant feed part is like this too.Makes installing things easier too, if you put the hose area in a good place. This is how my FMU is mounted on my strut bar.Wrapped the AC line so I don't catch on fire on the freeway. Also I tapped the intercooler piping for my wastegate.Miata batteryRecirculated BOV + pink hose for added hp.Black thingy is my water temp sensor Tee.Wrapped exhaust stuff, with my oil sandwich block + oil pressure sensor and turbo oil feed line.Better shot of the oil sandwich, I angled the oil T on purpose. Also I found out it leaks, but I tightened it yesteday and put in thicker oil today, I hope it doesn't leak again -_-.Difficult to see the intercooler even with camera flash. (That grill was made by my dad.And finally, my gauges and new black dash.

My car sounds nice, but looks stock... someone donate me skirts and a bumper.

Oh yeah how could I forget.MAJOR props to 480sx, WDRacing, spooled240, and a ton of other people for helping me out with the knowledge I needed for this build, and answering my noob questions. Also, DJButton for sending me oil fittings I needed :D

Ballllin! It needs to be warmer so I can do the same thing. Got the parts, but I'm breaking too many tools in the cold, lol.

I painted it black, it's a CXracing intercooler though.

I got the SR version cause they charge a ton more for the KA version.Fitment of the piping is really crappy of course. But the INTERCOOLER, fit like crap.Me and my dad had to bend the brackets that came with it and drill holes in them to make em fit.

Speaking of things that dont fit.I bought the manifold, turbo elbow, and downpipe all from Megan so everything bolt together.

It did.Except my engine sits a little high and the flex section on the downpipe hit my car's belly and wouldn't fit. It's like Megan got a normal downpipe and just welded in a flex section and called it a day without making it sit lower to compensate for the fatter flex section. Thank goodness the muffler guy is good at his job.

A lot of muscling around and cutting the top part of the silicone on the throttle body side, so the bottom part of the silicone could slip in. It was at an akward angle. Hard to explain.

The cold side was abnormally high since I have a GT28 and it's compressor elbow is at a different angle than a T25. I cut a part of the pipe off and that let me close the hood but it's still slightly touching. Also me and my dad had to muscle things around ALOT. Ugh.

$3k since I bought a brand new S15 GT28R turbo.

Fuel management for now is a 8:1 Vortech FMU.

Larger injectors and a tune would be nice but no more $$$$$ right now, plus it runs fine at the moment so I'm not in a hurry.

If anyone can see something funky about my air intake, you get a cookie.

stock air box? You must have incredible spool with that GT28 on the KA, what rpm are you getting full spool?

Way to go bud, welcome to the KA-T family. How about a few more specs. Boost, spool time/ rpm, and the technical stuff.

Yep I'm keeping it looking stock for now, that's why I used a OEM Nissan airbox.

Can't use all 8 psi right now, stock clutch slips LOL.

I can make it start spooling below 3k at a bit more than half throttle.

For the box, I used a Nissan Altima box chopped most of the bottom out so it sits lower. Then I modified the air box some more and flipped the MAF upside down so it clears the intercooler piping.

:D thanks.

Boost : 8 psi, only can use 5 psi before clutch slips.Spool time : Really quick, makes boost fairly quickly without even flooring it at around 3k.

Dunno if I will put it on a dyno yet.Yes piping is from CXracing, it was very hard to fit.And I painted them black.

Also guys, disregard my previous posts on when it spools. I've only driven it a couple of times and I forgot.

I just came back from driving it to Golden Chopsticks ( ) and unless I drive very slow, I can set off the BOV below 2.5k revs HAHA.

FRsport.com, on their Thanksgiving special discount.

I've been overheating these days and now I figured out a small crack in the radiator turned into a huge one, no clue how I didn't notice since it's on the top of the radiator.

Now I need to find a replacement or find a way to fix it .

I don't see a wideband anywhere.

Word of advice, ditch the FMU and get a wideband and rom tune.

contact Carl H for more info, he's done some tuning for me, A+++ stuff.

Don't worry, KA-T guys have ran FMU setups for T25/T28s for a while with no problems, it's a well known reliable setup.

Bigger injectors and a tune is somewhere in the future though.
