As the title says, I went to watch a small drift/grip event this weekend and the KA24E-TT was there, so I took these pics. The car seems to be nicely tuned; starts easily, idles great, and seems to have good power and spool qualities. Anyways, here's the pictures:

I never thought I would see one of these really, especially a SOCH

I donno it seems kinda pointless....one bigger turbo should be fine.

naww.you can twin turbo charge a 4cyl..its just not always the smartest move.

on the other hand

ive always wondered if one could run a sequential twin turbo setup on a KA or SR...that would be pretty cool.

Yeah I would totally do that if I didn't already have (and love) my CA18.

im sorry but.... since one turbo isnt feeding the other, whats the point of having two? i have always thought that the purpose of having two turbos was to reduce lag. to me, this would only cause more back pressure with no benefits. ????

Nice work, but not the most efficient setup...there's only 2 exhaust pulses per turbo.

SOHCs are actually better for turbo applications in some cases... depends on the setup so don't rule that out.

I think its stupid in my opinion, theres really no plus besides being different.

It may not be the most efficient setup, but it looks freaking bada$s under the hood. Like, half ninja, half tiger.

meh... its different for sure... but wtf. seriously. on a single cam, we wouldnt rev high enough to push enough air to be effective at spooling TWO turbines... bleh... a for effort???

Its a turbo inline engine, why wouldn't you be able to? a RB26DETT is an inline 6 and twin's, same principals.

But with the right turbos and tuning twins are great, better low end throttle response with less lag, great midrange, and you still got the high side. Looks pro.

Wow real cool,I think seen a pic on a sr20dett on here.like 2day I was checking out this twin rx-7 at the loco tune shop.so I was think if that could push 2 turbo why could a ka24 bigger motor.even the rx motor redlines at 8500-9000prm and the ka at it best 8000rpm.the only way we can find out 1 us trying twin turbo setup.... .

So I'm just guessing the turbo's are fairly small. If you wanted to run twin, wouldn't you want small turbo's because on an I4 there isn't enough spent gas to spool up?

That's what I did when I first heard of a twin turbo 240sx. But now I question how responsive it is, turbo size, etc... and it kills my joy.

Well, the op saw it in action and he's already KA-T. So, I'm gonna choose to believe that he knows wsup. KA24ETT=Good.

But, is the level of difficulty worth it? I want to see dyno charts...

I found some, looks similar to this....

The numbers are wrong however, add some 1's and 0's.

Been covered already. Not the best route to take, but when done right - it works. There's even a vid of sr20deTT. That sh it is damn fast. Too lazy to find it.

itd be easier for an inline six to get the turbines spinning compared to an inline four. we all know that.

whats their manifold set up? 2 manifolds, 2 cylinders each? log manifold with 2 turbo flanges?

doesnt seem very efficient to me. id much rather see a twincharged KA, super on the cold side turbo on the hot

.

it looks cool, but I am on the "why" bandwagon. I mean if it is not efficient and I dont see how it could be more efficient than a single large turbo, then whats the point. I would imagine that the twins help increase the temperatures at the intake as well and I don't see how this is going to add too much to the bottom end when the turbos are not sequential. Seems like it would spool just like it had one of them, but the top end would be better. Not for me.

To all you guys saying the motor is too small for twins...

...Didn't the RX-7 come with a turbo? At 1.2 liters?? Isn't that half of the KA?

...And didn't it also come with a sequential setup as well?(Disregard that it's a rotary. Comparison is for engine size reference only.)

Think about it, then reconsider. And remember that the SOHC KA, has made more power N/A, than a DOHC. So give it some credit.

All you need, is a properly matched pair of turbo's, and you're golden. God forbid, someone does something out of the norm.. You people freak the f*** out.
