You radar detector goes off for miles, not a cop in site. (Valentine1's will show 2, 3, or even 4 radar signals) You finally pass a car and the signals stop. Most of the time it's a freakin Audi. Well...welcome to the world of collision avoidance radar.

So who has experienced this nightmare scenario?

I have the sti-r, 9500, and sti-r driver mag and no problems with it so far. It supposed to filter those out and road signs as well.

The last two I've had issue with are new Impala's. I have the 9500 as well.

Hmm. I've driven with the V1 for 20 years, and haven't had a radar ticket using one. Just might have to look a the Escort's again. I have had the Escort and the Passport before moving on to Mike Valentine's units. Some internet reviews seem to say that the Escort falses less.

The 9500 also has GPS to mark false signals so you don't get them again. I love it. I do wish it had arrows sometimes ;)

You can also get the SmartCord Live which is more real-time network protection via other Escort owners. I just don't know how large the network is at this point.

OK I just drove 1,200 miles down to Miami and can report back on this.

With a V1 you can develop a sense for what is a collision avoidance radar vs a police radar with a little experience. Most my falses came from vehicles headed North as I went South. As I stated most falses come from rear of vehicle. 2 or 3 or even 4 units lite up the V1. As you get past a car traveling your direction they stop completely once you get by offender. When they trip the V1 going the other way, unit bumps on with 2-3 bogeys showing, then quickly trails off. Most police traps are single units, ahead, hitting unit with increased strength as you get closer.

I probably had 30-40 falses going south (north bound vehicles), and got use to them quickly. I only passed 3-4 (going my way) on whole trip. It was a pleasant drive, I'm happy to report that I 95 is complete the whole way and is posted 70 MPH probably 95%. I just cruised at 78-79 most of the way and made south of Jacksonville from Philly in 14 hours...driving a Civic, LOL!!

I travel constantly and never have that many false signals. Usually it's when I'm overtaking one of these vehicles it will get up to 1/2 signal and then go away once I pass it. I've not noticed picking them up via on-coming traffic with the 9500.

yeah its always an audi on the highway. now the new 2014-2015 chevy/gmc cars give false alarms too. But as someone said after owning a V1 for a while you learn what is real and what is fake. So the "false alarms" don't bother me. its technically not a false alarm, as the V1 is doing its job to alarm you of radar, regardless of the source. That, and the arrows is why I went with a V1 or a passport.

(yeah I haven't posted here in a minute, my job has a new filter on our internet and this site got nixed)

^^^ Ugh. People have been dropping from here for awhile. I know my job has gotten crazy and I've simply not had as much time either. I've gone as long as 2 weeks without getting online and then playing catch-up answering threads. No issues from work limiting my internet connection since I work from my home office :)

I've not been around a newer V1 but the ones I've seen have been quite noisy. My 9500 is far less noisy than the 8500 I have in the other car simply because it marks locations. The 8500 is far less noisy than the V1's I've been around. At this point I would love Infiniti to allow Waze to be installed as an application in the Q and I use that as a tool along with the detector to be an updated driver.
