So, a friend of mine here in Japan has a nice little blog going on about his R33 GT-R and all the things he's done or had done to it in the years he's owned it.

Most notable about this car is the engine is an approximately 500hp Mines built/tuned engine. He also runs on Fuji circuit quite frequently.

Anyway, in one of his latest blogs, he breaks down the little differences in the R33 series GT-Rs. Quite a few things I didn't know and most people back home don't know, as well.

Here is the individual blog.
How a Series 3 BCNR33 is Different From the Other R33 GT-Rs

Here is the homepage for his continued blog.
One Man's Lonely Adventures In His R33 GT-R

Lots of good reading from a very well known GT-R owner here in Tokyo. He's also friends with Dino Dalle Carbonare, one of SpeedHunters.net's premier photo journalists.

Anyway, ENJOY!!!

Things to keep my eye out for.
Didn't realise only the outer tail lights work when braking in the series 3.
You learn something new everyday! :gapteeth:

The guy has done his research. He had me at "rear fog light." Wait, WTF?

Yeah, Mike.

The R34 has it too. It's a super bright light for being red. You could probably see it from quite a distance in a thick fog.

Aki is quite good at the research he does. And has has one of the cleanest GT-Rs I have seen. Keeps it meticulously clean.

To think I have been backing up in fog without such crucial equipment. The build numbers for the 33 are stunningly low compared to the 32; I didn't know that. Lucky I like the 32. I think if I ever have a 34 it will be a four door T. Like the 30, the 34 sedan looks perfect!

So, how is your R treating you?

That light is mostly for the people behind you, should you be driving in the fog, people behind you will see that light from much farther away than normal tail lights.

I don't care for the R34 four door in stock trim, but with the right aero, wheels and suspension, they look good.

The R is good. She needs tires and the stock sus is starting to get creaky, especially on cold mornings.

Creak, try an 85! Although, to be fair, I think the driver has noisier joints. = (

Hey Neal,

Thanks for the intro, and the post! And good to meet you all!

Am thinking of adding a section to my blog where I translate old articles on the R33, if that is of interest to anyone?

Let me know!

Aki

PS How come all you guys are moderators? Or did I just get lucky?

PPS Neal give me a budget and I can try to find a suspension for you!

Gang, say hello to the blog owner.

Aki, watch out for themadscientist...he never misses an oportunity to bash on 33 owners. But he also has a 180sx with whinny the pooh interior.

His one saving grace, he owns an rs turbo.

The 33 bashing is all in good fun. The R's fatter fenders salvage the 33 profile; the T is just a visual travesty. The gozmo-R hate is to the core, though. I don't like cars that need a Playstation move controller to drive. DIE 35, DIE!

Aki,

I'll know more about what my budget will be when it gets closer to Summer.
I have sha-ken and taxes on the GT-R this year, and the wife has taxes on her car. Once those are taken care of, I'll have a better idea of where I'll stand for tires and suspension.
