So last night I finally got a chance to install the new R2C CAI kit I ordered from TunerzStore (Who was AWESOME to work with, btw). Although the assembly of the parts went without a hitch, the install presented one issue when it came to the crankcase hoses.

In an effort to get the crankcase hoses to mount to the pipe on the new tubes properly, I tried all sorts of arrangements and configurations between reversing the existing hoses, using the new one supplied with the kit, etc etc. No matter what I did, I ended up with a bit of a pinch in the hose right were it comes off the new pipe. Its not a complete pinch in that it would completely block off any air-flow, but I imagine it is enough to restrict it somewhat.

I had to actually use the supplied hose on the drivers side...the factory hose wasn't even close to lining up. I had to cut about 3" off of it to fit. I ended up just reversing the passenger side factory hose and that lined up well enough, though it was a bit of a struggle to fit the clamp on.

Anyway, I guess I am just curious if this pinch will present any long-term issues. To this point, everything seems fine when I drive it, but I don't know if this is something I should in some way be concerned about. What exactly do those crankcase hoses do anyway...just provide some ventilation out of the crankcase?

I appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Those hoses recycle unburned fumes from the motor back through the intake. I wouldn't worry about the kink. I had a breather filter on the driver side for a while.

Above is my installation for the R2C's. On the drivers side I used the supplied hose, cut in half. On the passenger side, step 9, I simply flipped the factory hose backward and it fit great.

Was way ahead of you audatious...I had that page bookmarked from the day I ordered the kit...it was a big help and I thank you immensely for hosting it. You don't mention on there though about cutting the supplied hose for the drivers side (In the event the stock hose wont work). As it turned out that we both ended up going that route, you may want to make an addendum to Step 8 for anyone else who also references it in the future.

I must say, I love the sound this thing makes now when you get on it. With the deal I got through TunerzStore, this was a no-brainer upgrade. Next up I hope to do an exhaust upgrade so I can get some mean bellows through a wider RPM range =)

I'll make an update to step 8. Glad the page was helpful. Mike is great to deal with at TZ

The ARK exhaust would be my suggestion for the next upgrade.

Hi Mike - I went to check out your options at TunerzStore. Your site has ARK listed in the Infiniti sub-menu exhaust pane, but am I mistaken that none are listed for sale? Much like the powder coated intakes, do you just not have them listed due to low demand? Can you shoot me some price options if you do indeed sell them? I'm probably not going to be able to pick them up for quite a while, but I always like to know my options and having it dangle out there on the interweb sometimes sways me into making poor life decisions ;). Thanks.

ARK Exhausts

R2C Intakes

We have added the powder coated intakes, although they are not the best selling finish.

Thanks...guess I should have clicked that link that says "ARK Exhausts"! Any idea when you'll be getting a restock on the AWD version?

Do the rear resonators/mufflers of the ARK hang lower than the stock exhaust? I haven't really seen any before and after pics to compare, but they seem to protrude a bit lower from what I can tell, perhaps I am just imagining it.

Yeah I noticed you have the powder coated intakes on there now. I am surprised they aren't more popular...I think they look great, but I suppose most people these days are after a bit more bling whereas I typically like things a bit more subdued.

At this time, they will probably be out of stock for a month or two. Yes the resonators hang a bit lower and you will have to remove the brace or space it out.

The black nickel is the most popular and looks the best IMHO.
