I'd like to get some feedback about BC coilovers to help M37/56 guys be better informed.

We've been having some debate about BC coilovers but currently there are not very many M37/56 guys using them to be able to offer a wide range of educated information, opinion and personal experiences. Please reply and include the following to standardize the feedback. Thanks for your help.

Do you own BC coilovers?
If yes, what car?

Describe your experience...are they comfortable, noisy, easy to adjust, etc?...

If no, have you owned them in the past or plan to in the future?

If you owned them in the past and switched, why?

I have BC's on a 2007 M35x. The install was easy, however, I had trouble adjusting them (I don't understand the concept of the collars/pre-load too well evidently), so I had a shop do that part. They were good for a while but have become noisy. In the sense that being lowered has started to blow my front stabilizer links 5k-10k after replacing resulting in a clunking noise. Also, at full left or right lock, there is a pop which I believe is known as spring binding as a result to an incorrect preload (which was fine - nothing changed - noise just appeared). I've gotten alignments, had the suspension re-set, still happens.

Knowing all that above, I probably would have gone with a traditional static strut/spring combo...I'm just dealing with it now.

As for ride comfort, it rides like stock but handles far better in the corners.

I have D2 on 08 m35. I do sometimes get the popping Ila talks about but its almost always on off axis turns with dips. As for vs. stock, mine defiantly rides bouncier than stock on regular streets. Highway is perfect though. Settings as it sits right now are 18f 20r. One thing worth noting is that ride quality also depends on how lowered you go. The lower the car, the stiffer the coil settings have to be so you don't rub. I had twin h-techs (lowering springs) before the D2's and they felt more stock on the ride but they were also not stiff enough so I scraped over almost everything. Granted Houston roads are sh**t!!!

All that said, if I could go back, I would defiantly stay stock until I can afford bags since imo they are the best of both worlds. Especially if you go with Accuair.

Lol I actually have some time set aside next week to take the D2's off and get them ready to sell with my tein's.

I've had BC's on my 06 M35 for a few years now and very happy with them. Didn't install or adjust them myself, but shop told me they had a problem installing or adjusting one of the rear ones. Dropped the car 2 inches and stiffened to the max. Way to stiff and girlfriend hated it, but handling was awesome. Now have it as soft as possible, but with it being lowered, it's still stiff enough for me (still much stiffer than stock) and soft enough for my girlfriend, so everyone's happy. I've never had anything other than stock, so I can't offer any comparison; only that I'm happy with them.

I am debating on coilovers for my 2003 M45 as opposed to stock struts, shocks, and springs. What do my fellow (Y34) owners suggest?

Can I raise the height of my 2003 M45 above stock height with coilovers?

I believe, generally speaking, you can...but it depends on the manufacturer/etc. I'm not 100% sure on the BC's but I don't see why not.
