First, thanks much to Heath for providing me with a replacement at a reasonable price.

Got my 1994 back on the road quickly.

My professional mechanic friend had a great idea when we took apart the original (damaged) regulator. It was indeed the solder joint that came apart.

I can fix that but that leaves the original issue (too much amperage) unaddressed. He suggested that I put a hole through the container, run a fused line to the outside so that it can be easily changed in the event of another "event".

Seems like a great idea. But does anyone have an idea of what rating I should put on the fuse? I have no idea what this box will draw at max.

cheers,
Stefan

I'm glad to hear it's working...

Good question, and I have no idea. Since the failure only happens when the pump is failing, usually the pump just gets replaced?

Unfortunately for me, it was a very new pump (less than six months old). NOS, too.

So the pump seems fine.. but I want to ensure that this doesn't happen again. Worthwhile mod for everyone with an original regulator to consider too, since when I talked to InfinitiParts they told me there was ONE new one left in stock in the entire country.

I'll photo and writeup the mod when it's done.

I would replace the transistor in the control unit with a better one. I thinks thats what fails.
