Since I dont think as many people use our beautiful articles section on NICO, I thought I would link it up here.

Here is the link to the articles forum... Be sure to read the "general info" articles as they contain great information thats great to read no matter what you own.

http://www.nicoclub.com/subpag...shtml

For searching sake, here is a current list (updated 8/5/2007) of articles in the database. You will have to go to the link above to access the articles as they would take forever to link here (and it is somewhat redundant). However, the search function does not pick up these articles.

If you have any SUGGESTIONS for articles, please put them in this thread. If you would like to contribute an article, email me or let me know somehow. Its great when you find something and can contribute it to the good of the cause.

There are threads on the board about retiming a VH45DE. I suggest you search.

Thanks for the index. Here's my three questions:

1) Is there a set of "basic readings" for a new owner of a '99 Q45 that covers maintenance, intelligent ownership, etc?

2) The gas available here does not have engine cleaners in it (Techron, etc.) and I understand these are worthwhile over the long run. Is there a reasonably priced additive? Mail order availability?

3) The doors (all 4) won't stay in their open position. How can I adjust without taking apart the doors & covers? (Couldn't find an article on this through searching the site.)

Thank you - sfores

Maybe, the "94 Q45 Aux Input for MP3" page, or turn it into a sticky!

I have been meaning to post this for a long time--found a very good, inexpensive external oil filter for the Q45 transmission. Both early models as an add-on, and replacement for 94-on models. It is Ford part No XC3Z-7B155-CA for the 'Trans Fluid Filter Kit' about $18. Filter only is part No XC3Z-7B155-BA $10 or so. Kit has brass hose/pipe fittings, flex hose, and hose clamps in addition to filter.

Only modification to later cars is rerouting hoses from each side cooler to a new brass 'tee' and then on to the filter inlet. OEM filter has the 'tee' built into the inlet steel tubing. That is a $100 tee fitting.

I just registered to this site so I'm not quite sure if I'm using it correctly. I have a question.I'm sure my 93 Q45 has broke on or more timing chain guides and jumped a tooth. The engine just spins with no compression. How likely is it that I caused damage to a piston or the valve train. My wife is bugging me to just junk the car but I'd like to try and repair it myself. Would this be a reasonable project or should I simply listen to my wife?

I have a 1995 Q45, the other day there was a huge puddle of antifreeze under the car. I took a look underneath the car, the hood and couldnt find any wet hoses or torn hoses. At the bottom corner of the radiator however is where i see the coolant leaking but i cant exactly locate it. Can anyone tell me if i should replace my radiator or any other ideas? Thanks!

Hey I was looking at a 1999 Infiniti Q45 and put a deposit on it. The car has 161,000 miles and is in great condition. Is it worth buying this car if I am expecting it to last for quite a few years with minimal repairs? I just want to know from experience from other people who would know.
Thanks.

Mod, will I be able to reset my change oil filter and rotate tire maintenence warnings if I read and follow this?:

Or is that something Infiniti has to do?

Can anyone tell me where the evaporator drain hose is on the 2005 Q45? I do not see any water dripping on the ground anywhere from AC. DO have an initial stink when cranking up AC and think hose may be clogged.

Been turnin wrenche's for a livin close to 35 - 40 year's .
American Muscle / Bigg Truck's / Air Cooled V.W. / Oil Rigg's .
I know nothin about Nissan Infinity .
Last Datsun I worked on was 20 somethin year's ago and it was a 69 Sportster .
But I need to fix a 1995 Q4 Infinity .
I have no engine series like z-24 on the 4 banger engines .
Cant tell if it's OBD-1 or OBD-11 ?
Cant find a repair manual on it thru Haynes or Clymer or Chilton's .
Scared I will crash My computer down loading the manual I found in here , in this forum .
Impressed with the Speedo some what on this car ?
I litterally grew up on Dry Lake Bedd's !
But anyone who could help me out shove in the right direction for info on the car would be greatly appreciated .

Cant afford them .
Might be able to buy a manual for it if I could find one .

Hi BIX !
Im no Nissan Tech but think I might be able to point you the right direction here as to wether or not to junk her out .
Generally speaking you need to ask the right question .
A lott of car's in the 80's and 90's Hondas / Toyotas etc had head's that were considerd interference type head's .
Meaning if they jumped time the valves would hang open and the piston would come up and smack up .
This generally bent thing's up pretty badd .
Later they came out with what is considerd to be a no interference head these didnt allow the valve's to hang low enough that the piston would hit them .
So the question you need the answer to is wether or not your ride has a interference type head's or, a no interference type head .
Unfortunately I can not answer this question as Im lost when it come's to high end Nissan's and seem unable to find manual's on the Q45 Infinity .
But I did stay at a Holiday Inn once ? :chuckle:
