On Monday I plan to trade my TT 300zx for an R32! It is titled in the state that I live in and does display Nissan Skyline on the title. Is this car legal please help I dont want to trade my 300TT that I have dumped stupid amounts of money into only to have this car siezed in a few months or years or maybe even when I got to tag it. Its a 1992 R32 and is on mautofied.com Please help Ive read to many conflicting stories on this.

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

I dont understand how someone can even post one for sale without having it red flagged or have it siezed while trying to sell it. its a 92 gts-t and was asking $15000 for it and I offerd my Z and 3k and he took it. Im just worried because as far as power goes this is a downgrade my Z makes 530whp but Ive always wanted a Skyline and it seemed like a normal price for a gts-t. If they sieze this Skyline I would pretty much be screwed right? Ive been reading tons of forums and nothing is just a straight forward answer

Don't buy it. I'm not saying that because it's illegal; I'm saying that because it's an bad trade.

Get the VIN # and call Mr. Coleman Sachs, the phone number was recently posted on here, if Mr. S doesn't have the VIN # number in his file of legally imported vehicles then the car can be seized and if its seized you get nothing of course you could sue the person you traded with. I'll post the nuber after I find it Sean Tyndago posted it recently.

Phone Number (202) 366-3151, I forgot I still have the number on my phone

The blackone with the RB25DET swap, and a 240sx title.... No it's not close to legal

He sent a pic of the title it displays 1992 Nissan TUDOR aka 2dr. Says last purchase date was 06/15/2010. VIN displays DRMVB0000158694M0.

Can you post a pic of the car? That appears to be a state assigned title which does not make it legal, the only thing good about it is that the title does not say skyline. I'd like to see what you have VS what you will get for this grey market trade.

Legal has the following -
US Customs bond release with listment of the RA
Prior to that you need proof of ownership aka Japanese "title" with certification that the car has been withdrawn from use aka a de-registration of vin / aka chassis code.
Should also have shipping documents from the other end.

Mine has that and I traded my car for it, assigned vin as well but with docs

So the most info I can get is that this car was impounded and then auction to the owner who is selling it to me. He assures me that it has been here for years and is legal. I told him this was a risk for me and that my Z was a much nicer vehicle which it is if you've seen it and is much more powerful, then he comes back saying this skyline is just as nice( its bone stock). Seems like he's really pushing for the sale

He's pushing it most likely because it's not legal and he wants to get the heat off his hands.

A 1992 GTS-t in Japan even mildly modified goes for about $5k tops these days. I'd keep the Z.

If they say "its legal", then ask for the DOT bond release. Then call the DOT and check it.

Pretty simple really. One call, and you shut up the scammers.

I do still consider you to be a scammer if you misrepresent a vehicle. Even if you are ignorant if it is legal or not. Due diligence will get the true answer. One call - 202 366-5291 and ask them.

?

It goes like this - DOT-NHTSA-OVSC. Its all the same thing. NHTSA is a part of the DOT. OVSC is part of the NHTSA which is a part of the DOT.
