for a month ive been driving without any brake lights... my running light work tho...

today i looked under the dash, pulled up the carpet, rear molding, and rear next to the lights... i could not find the short, nothing visible or obvious from where i looked...

i wondering if any of you know of any common places for brake lights to short circuit...

any help would be helpful

i just took out my dash, and carpet and still no obvious wire to ground short...

so could the short be the switch itself?

Check brake light bulbs. Also look inside tail light area.

Are you using the correct light bulbs? And check all the bulb sockets

usually if its the sockets the lights will be dim, but i looked at them anyway and nothing...

i has to be a wire hitting ground to make the fuse blow... is there a common place where this could happen...

at the pedal switch, that's where it usually happens. make sure the wires aren't melted together. and try swapping out the switch.

if you worm up under the dash you'll see two switches if your car is equipped with a cruise control and a only one if yours is not. ittle be just above the brake pedal under there.

i had something like that happen in mine. We came to the conclusion it was blowing the fuse whn my hatch was shut so far. I couldn't figure out what it was but i dont blow fuses anymore after disconnecting my rear window defroster.
