Hello all.

I currently live in Boston and have an 07 g35x sedan. Its been quite cold and when I just star my car up the power steering is fine. Once the car warms up the steering becomes very tight. The dealer per usual says ill have to replace it but is there another solution? Or if it does need to get replaced where can I get a remanufactured power steering pump?

Additionally, my door got frozen and when I pulled the handle it went limp and I can't open the door from the inside or out. The dealer says its an actuator in my door and it needs to be replaced.. does this sound right?

Have you ever had the power steering fluid flushed? That's the first thing I would try.

For the door I would remove the door panel and look to see if the handle cable assembly became disconnected. Here's how to remove the door panel:

I thought the steering rack was more common than the pump? The pump could be bad, but you'd probably want to check the pressure first. Normally when power steering pumps go bad they start getting noisy. I agree though, flushing the PS fluid (use ATF) would be the best thing to do first, if nothing else it's worth the $10 risk you'll have in fluid.

Best way to flush PS fluid IMO is to go buy a turkey baster, suck the fluid out of the reservoir, and do that every time you drive the car for a week or so until you go through about 3 quarts worth of fluid.

how do you suggest I get this panel off if I can't get the door open? tips popping the door open?

That would be quite tricky indeed and I really don't have an answer.
