It seems like when I get into my 2012 Rogue SV i always have to tilt the seat back to get to the proper position. Does this vehicle have a settings memory that is returning it to a preset configuration, or do I need a shrink?

Our seat systems are manually set, and should not move unless you move the lever.
Check your Lumbar Support, it may need tweaking.
Something a simple as a jacket can affect how you sit in the seat.

Are you calling me a Larda$$??? Yes, I know about the lombar support. I have it fully extended and am grateful for the added support. I understand how to use the controls to move the seat forward and back, as well as up and down. Its the same control configuration as my 2005 Altima. I guess I need counseling. :wavey:

Awww, Bless your heart! I'm 5'8" 180lbs, I would never call you a Larda$$. Imply perhaps... :rotflmao

I thought maybe that when you're putting your left leg out the door, the pressure causes the side bolster to droop, pushing on the seat switch and causing it to lower. But I don't think that's the case.

More likely there's a defect with the controls for the power seat. It should stay where you put it until you move it again. Sounds like you need to have the dealer check it out.

Maybe next time I get out I'll watch and see if the seats are moving. I asked because I know some of the"luxury" cars on the market have multiple pre-sets of seat and steering wheel to acommodate multiple drivers.

I probably would have replied differently had your original post been as descriptive as it was on the other forum (that one is not very active, so I don't keep a close eye on it).

BTW, Did you try working with a different dealership, or just the one in Homosassa? Good luck with your case when you see the arbitrator on June 10th.

I did not post this question in another forum, and i have no idea where Hommosassa is. If you would be so kind as to provide a link to the "other " forum so I can verify there isn't someone else posting under my user name.

Strange, this was posted two days before your post http://www.nissanroguesuv.com/electrica ... tself.html and was similar to your problem.

Seemed too much of a coincidence, so I lept to conclusion. Please accept my apology for the error. I think you may find it of interest as this person may be having the same problem as you.

I checked out the thread, you're right. It sounds like the same problem, although I have never encountered movement while I am driving. Thanks for the reference. I posted a cross link back to this thread as well.

Umm have you consider the seatbelt? Maybe before you get off the car, you took off the seatbelt, which might touch the button (depend on the seat position). Just my WILD guess lol

No, I hadn't thought of that.

ras_oscar,
I'm going through the same exact thing. I've been dealing with Nissan and the BBB about this situation. I got a little pissed when the Nissan tech who thought he was a doctor told me that I might be "crazy" or just having "illusions". I typically have my seat leaning back a bit. When I get in my car the next day, it looks like my mother who is 4'11" was driving it.

Please email me. [email protected]. I'd like to hear what you are going through. I'm getting ready to go into arbitration on Monday June 10th. I would like to have all the supporting evidence for this. If it does turn out well for me, I'm sure you could win an arbitration if you go for it.

Thanks,

Manny

I tried sending a PM... It's telling me I don't use this site enough to send a PM. I'm hoping I can talk to ras_oscar a little before Monday so I have more ammo to use when I go into arbitration.

Well, I went to arbitration this past Monday. All in all it was what I expected. The Nissan rep pretty much trying to shut down the situation. He went as far as asking me the simple questions like, does the car turn right and left? Does the car move when you accelerate? Does the car stop when you apply the brakes? And of course, my answer was yes. He then stated that there was nothing wrong with the car then. It wasn't about any of those things. It was about the seat moving by itself.

Luckily for me, I was taking my wife's car in for service this past Saturday. She had to use my car to go run some errands. Her mother decided to hang out with her for the day as well. Towards the end of their day, my wife told me that the seat starting moving itself without her touching anything. My mother-in-law panicked and claimed it scared her. Til that moment, my wife and mother-in-law thought I was making up this story. When it happened it was confirmed. They were conference called into the arbitration where they gave their sworn testimonies. Hopefully it helped my case.

why dont you film this? i would have had a suction cup camera mount and camera installed by now. furthermore, if they deny you - why dont you simply replace the seat module.

I received the results back from my arbitration. I won the case with Nissan being required to buy back my Rogue. They do have a formula for the milage that I put on the car. Essentially, I am paying out around $3,000 and that will be deducted out of the "award" money. They are not giving me the total amount owed on my car. However, GAP insurance will cover the difference since the car was considered a "total loss".

I hope this helps out anyone who is having the same issue. The "groundwork" is laid out for whoever is having the same issue. If you need documentation for your own case, please feel free to PM me so we can exchange email addresses.

My problem was my son moving the car in te driveway and adjusting the seats, so the mystery is solved. I now get in his car and move the seat up all the way just to torment him. :rotfl

So even though you won, you're still not whole? (the payment they made to you to buy back the car was less than the outstanding loan payment) It's a shame. What are you going to purchase to replace it? I'd be interested to see if the 2014 Rogue gets a kick in MPG similar to the 2013 Altima.

As of right now, I'm speaking to the GAP insurance provider that I purchased at the point of sale. I'm working with them paying off the negative equity since the car is a "total loss".

If this does happen, I'm probably going to buy a 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo. My wife has been very happy with her 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. They just offer so much bang for your buck compared to Nissan.

If not, I'll just pay off the remaining debt and buy a cheap replacement for the time being.

My 2012 Rogue has this same issue. I thought I was going crazy because the seat would be moved forward.... I took it in to the dealer in September but they couldn't find the cause. Yesterday I got in and sat down.... Hadn't even started the car and the seat started moving forward.... I jumped out of the car and watched the seat move all the way forward! This is not good! Took it to the dealer but they didn't have any techs on to look at it... So back it goes on Monday! Thank goodness (I say that ironically) I'm not the only one!

Perhaps for safety you should adjust the seat to your frame and unplug the motor until you can get to the bottom of the issue? I'd hate to see an accident caused by this situation.

They are now arguing that there is no problem because they've "checked the wiring" and found nothing wrong. It is currently at the dealer (been there since Monday) and I've been in contact with the customer service reps. Waiting to hear back from the "regional specialist" or some such person to talk about next steps.

Not happy and will never by another Nissan!

After doing a little research, I've come across two possible causes.
1) Defective relay
2) Defective BCM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_control_module
