Whats the cost of this test at a dealer and is there a piece of equipment I can purchase to do this test?

they will charge you a hour fee for a test that takes 1 minute.

You can buy real consult and be a NICO hero for the people the live around you.

Or you can buy one from our sponsor Blazt.biz and see if you can get any good results from OBD scan tech Nissan. But I have heard this way does'nt give accurate results.

I have a cable for sale.

If you can develop an accurate tachometer that can resolve 12 rpm* out of 1200 rpm, disconnect IAC solenoid, tweek IAC manual bypass so rpm goes up to 1200 rpm and build 8 push botton that interrupts EACH injector lead going to ecu. You can manually do a power balance.

*the hard part to achieve 1% resolution

Would this be guaranteed to give results that are as accurate as the real Nissan Consult?

You do say the Nissan Consult locks Timing, Auxiliary Air and injectors....

Not as accurate as a NISSAN CONSULT but depending on what you are trying to accomplish 5% [+- 36 rpm] might be good enough?

Dennis do you mind if I ask how you know the Nissan Conuslt locks the Injector pulse width, ignition timing and Auxillary Air Control valve (Well the last one is a given).

"The Consult works by locking the ignition advance and injector fuel time along with the IAC duty cycle so nothing changes as the injectors and spark are sequentially shut off except the rpm.

Since each cylinder provides 12.5% of the total torque [over 2 rpms] and supposedly creates the same drag [negative IMEP and friction] as it is shut off...........all that remains it the locked test rpm [BASE RPM REPORTED]which is a function of IAC bypass setting and TB cleanliness."

I think what you're seeing above is Dennis' most recent post. I don't think he has logged in to NICO since 8/16. I'm hoping he's just busy refurbishing his engine after the massive overheat... or even better, going forward with is plan of a Q56 with the Titan engine/transmission combo! Or even better, a the 5.6L engine mated with some sort of manual transmission. :chuckle: :chuckle:

I dont know why you are trying to split hairs so much on this... If you can balance a nickel on the flat part of the plenum, I think thats easier than trying to figure out everything else...
