Ok, thanks for the info. I think if I stick with Chevron Techron fuel-system cleaner which I've used with good results for many years now then I should be fine. Supposedly Chevron Techron is one of the safest and most effective fuel-system cleaners out there so I guess it has to be good stuff.
On a side-note, even though the EPA mileage rating for my 2007 M35x is just 16 city and 22 highway, I've been averaging higher than that as my real-world driving fuel economy. Granted I don't drive the car excessively hard, I've always had a relatively moderate foot, but I've been averaging about 18 mpg in normal around-town driving and I've been averaging around 23-24 mpg on the highway at a steady 65-70 mph cruising speed. The highway mileage is still somewhat less than what I'm used to getting as the other cars I've owned over the last 5 years or so have had taller less-aggressive gearing which was better for highway fuel economy but worse for overall acceleration and performance. My 2002 3.2TL had TWO overdrive gears and even though the final drive ratio was a VERY short 4.429 the 5th gear was a ridiculously tall 0.471. Hell, even the 4th gear was 0.653! The car's gearing was very unorthodox to say the least and although highway gas mileage was above average the car had very weak power/acceleration after 3rd gear which my M35x definitely doesn't have an issue with, however the somewhat higher highway cruising rpms in the M35x did take a little getting used to at first, but now I am totally adjusted to it and I actually kind of like how the car doesn't lug at highway cruise and it always has plenty of passing power on tap at virtually any speed which my TL seriously lacked due to the excessively tall/wide gearing. Has anyone else gotten better average gas mileage than the EPA numbers suggest in their M35?
