hi all. i'm just about to embark on my 89 hatch project. i didn't realized that i have to host my pics elsewhere, but hopefull i can figure that out asap and update this thread.

i bought it as a rolling widebody shell. it was formerly a shop show car, built by enhanced autoworks in kamloops bc canada. unfortunately the shop went under and the car was parted out. sad for them, but now i've got a pretty cool, clean foundation for my project. https://www.dropbox.com/s/e37fdfx5mpiiw ... 4.PNG?dl=0

i'm actually the 3rd owner of this shell since it's been parted out. the last guy put the s13 front on it, but it still has the s15 core support. i'll be doing the s15 front end again.

the plan at this point is to drop in an s14 sr20.

i'm not looking to drift this car competitively. the main objective is to have a fast, comfortable street car that occasionally steps out sideways on a rainy day, and/or sometimes goes for a few laps around a road course or a drag strip once in a while.

the overall plan of attack is to tackle a few things in the interior first, and to get it functional. then the motor install, then the s13.5 conversion and the wheels and tires.

at a glance, my current shopping list looks like this:
INTERIOR
stereo wiring
speakers
tail lights
dynamat???
panel mounting screws
rear half, black carpet
seat mounting bolts
seat belts
ebrake handle cover
pillar gauge mount and wiring
1 hatch prop mount, hatch side of prop
stereo head unit
shifter boot
steering wheel with horn
cruise control buttons
shifter boot
full set of seats, and rear bench mounting hardware

ENGINE & TRANS
battery
power wiring and grounding lugs
motor & trans mounts (maybe)
motor and trans
wiring specialties conversion wiring harness
act street light flywheel
act street clutch
b&m shifter
shift knob

BODY
s15 to s13 conversion (aka s13.5 conversion)
rear spoiler
windshield weather stripping
moonroof weather caps over the hinges

WHEELS & TIRES
maybe spacers
maybe 5 lug swap
maybe 300zx z32 chassis brake calipers and rotors

SUSPENSION
energy suspension bushing kit
shocks and springs????

thanks for looking, and thanks in advance for any help and advice. i have to admit, i'm a noob on this forum, and i've only had 1 s13 in the past, which i hardly every worked on, so i'm probably going to be asking a lot of questions.

The car is interesting. To each their own. I am not a fan of yellow cars, but thats my taste. I also don't like that shops choice in rear wheel fitment. I am also confused on the roll cage. I don't see any cross bars or bracing. But I love S13's so nice choice. I'd recommend getting a nice pair of coilovers for it instead of struts and springs.

Good Luck. Not a lot of activity on this forum any more, but sooooooooo many things have been covered. Use the search command in the upper right hand corner and you should find almost anything you need.

yeah, i was hoping to avoid having to create yet another account on another website, but it looks like there's no avoiding it.

i share your feelings on the yellow. definitely not my first choice. but i have to admit, this is the nicest yellow i've seen. there is a pearl color added to it that doesn't show up in pictures. looks pretty neat. but it's still "look at me" yellow.

i'm not certain that the cage was ever meant to be functional. like i said, it was a show car. never raced. it was just made to look that way. personally, i want to have a back seat again so i can take my kids for rides. i'll be cutting the cage out.

i'll be looking into those coilovers when the time comes. thanks.

yes, i'm definitely enjoying the archived info here. that's what drew me to this page. although some of it might be slightly out of date. in particular, i'd love to talk to someone that's done the s13.5 conversion in the last year or so. i'd like to know if the fit of the wide fenders has improved over the last 8 years or so. seems like all the threads about it that i find are about that old.

I'm not to sure how many people on here have done it. It has been done, I just don't see it a lot. In the midwest drift group, there is a guy that has a super nice one. In person it looks soooooooo nice. If you don't mind making another account, ask him here.
