I changed out my 2 downstream O2 sensors (the ones under the car, the changed the upstream ones in the engine bay a few weeks ago) and my pathy won't start! here's what i did, i disconnected the battery negative terminal then i swapped out the old o2 sensors for new ones nothing complicated, i unplugged the old ones, plugged in the new ones and followed the old path and put in the clips that hold the wires away from heat sources, i connected the negative terminal and tried to start it and it wouldn't! I have no idea why, i tried a few times and finally it fired up. i let it warm up and when for a drive around the block then got back home and turned it off and tried to start it and it won't start.
here's the video.
first time i put in the keys try to start it, no luck,
second time the lights don't even come on the dash
third time the lights don't even come on the dash
i open my door then close it and try again and the dash lights come on but no start.

^ i'm not sure how it would be a battery connection problem both terminals are connected (elaborate?). I can turn on my hid's no problem. i thought it might be a lack of battery power issue, but put on a jump battery pack on and still nothing.
I'm thinking fuses, but i'm not sure which ones to switch out. i've tested (behind the coin tray) the starter fuse and i think one more that sounded like it may deal with ignition. but both showed up a green light on my fuse tester.
Electricity is my biggest weakness.
idk it fired up again. but i feel like i'm playing roulette now when i turn the key. hope i don't get stranded tomorrow :frown:

Do you have a scan tool? Is the check engine light on?
It might be helpful to check for any codes.

So radio works okay when key is turned to the acc position?

When turned to on position, and dash is blank, do the wipers work?

Wipers are on the ACC circuit too.

No scan tool, and no codes. i had the battery unplugged when i did the o2 sensors so it reset the computer anyway.

Yup the radio works in acc, everything dies with i flip it to on. i thought it might have to do with the antenna going up and down but i tired with the radio on and off to see if there was a difference. I never thought about trying the wipers

it's fired up 3 times since i've tried without a no start. But haven't changed anything since then. i'm going to put the jump pack and some tools in the trunk for tomorrow. Hopefully it keeps starting up, i may drop by the mechanic tomorrow.
just a really odd thing to start happening.

worked today, fired right up. i'm not sure what was causing this issue but glad that the pathy is firing on all cylinders.
Moderator you can remove this thread cuz i don't think i am able to delete threads and this one seems useless and will clog up searchers.
Thanks!

Bah.. Don't erase my epic fail of wipers being on the ACC circuit!!!!

BTW.. The item to test is actually the Rear Window defroster.. The LED should light when press if ignition switch is registering "On"

I frankly think you have / had a loose harness connection in the engine bay or a bad ignition switch, there simply is nothing in the O2 circuit that gets in the way of main power.

While there are a few circuit breakers, none of them are for main power and if you blew a fuse, well those never fix themselves.

The rear defroster switch (and hazard switch, HVAC button controls, heated seat switches) has an incandescent microbulb, not an LED, much to many owners' dismay who have had the displeasure of needing to replace one. That one certainly is on the "ON" circuit though if I recall correctly.

No need to remove this thread. It's not hurting anything. :)

Yea i figured it was nothing to do with the O2 sensor change, i did the upstream ones a few weeks ago and no problems, then i did this and thought maybe there is something i didn't know.
It was incredibly odd, cuz it didn't even crank and all the electrical stuff like lights and radio worked fine.
i used a test light and check the 7.5,10,15,20 amp fuses under the hood and under the coin tray (i didn't unplug any fuses but connected the top metal terminals) and got green light on all of them.
I'm not fond of wiring... sigh, but i hope to get a light bar up there soon. well see how that goes.
