Sounds like noisy or collapsed lifters.

Have you looked into running some kind of cleaning solution through engine. Like thick oil/ATF mixture for 30min, drain change filter, refill with cheap engine oil and filter run it for xxxx-miles, do regular filter/oil change. ATF is said to have good cleaning properties or MMO (Marvel Mistery Oil) is supposed to be little better than ATF. I would give this a try before tearing motor apart, its said to have good results for sticky lifters where ports are getting clogged up.

no i sure havent.. im takin it to a shop monday to see what they say....
