You are correct, Sir!Hoffman5982 wrote:

Whoa! I knew you were KA-T, but I had no idea that was the route you went! I wanna stop by Alamo and see this thing sometime!kenno470 wrote:You are correct, Sir!
The STS remote mounted turbo system worked flawlessly. And without all the leaks it'll work even better.
Stay tuned!
Mid engined V8 Genesis?? The car he ran in 2009 was a FR V6 TT...Did he make a change?simmode1 wrote:

Gonna bring the heat to Rhys and his mid-engined V8 Genesis this time around?
There's a few benefits to the remote mount:1. cooler engine bay - gets the heat away from critical stuff.2. cooler turbo - it's farther away from combustion so it runs cooler.3. ambient intercooling - the charge pipe from the turbo to the engine bay gets cooled along the way so I can use a smaller intercooler.ericb382 wrote:I saw this on FA and just assumed it was supercharged. Why the remote mount?
Okay now I know the benefits but what the hell is a "remount mount" turbo because I'm seeing headers and reading 320hp@10psi and goingkenno470 wrote:There's a few benefits to the remote mount:1. cooler engine bay - gets the heat away from critical stuff.2. cooler turbo - it's farther away from combustion so it runs cooler.3. ambient intercooling - the charge pipe from the turbo to the engine bay gets cooled along the way so I can use a smaller intercooler.
There's more to it than that, technical stuff that I don't fully understand...what I do know is that it works really well.
The turbo is back here...in the back seat behind the passenger. It's in a box with a hi-temp liner, so the passenger gets no radiant heat from it, and the noise (with a helmet on) is negligable.Stayka wrote:

Nope. Air moves through the system at over 400ft per second. The turbo is only 10 ft from the intake and the system is always pressurised. So lag is negligable (thousandths of a second vs a std. turbo config).chaosli wrote:turbo along the exhaust but not in the engine bay
i assume it the lag would be massive but i dont know........
Lol! Thank you so much for being a real guy! Cubicle work pwnz me too!kenno470 wrote:Mid engined V8 Genesis?? The car he ran in 2009 was a FR V6 TT...Did he make a change?
I'm pretty realistic...I don't have the experience or the talent to beat Rhys. He gets up every day, eats breakfast and gets in his race car...I get up every day, get my kids to school and go sit in my cubicle.
It's on my end...we completely re-did the website and most of the photo filenames were changed, so the pics don't work. I'll get around to fixing the photo links shortly. In the meantime, go over to the Fatman website and you can see all teh photos there: fatmanracing.comDidderson wrote:Can't see pics... bad links or my bad plugins? Says its from fatmanracing.com..
Thanks very much! We're looking forward to a better year. Hope to see you there! And don't forget to come down for Fan Fest on the Friday night before the race. That's a pretty good time!spolitte wrote:Reading your 4 page post about last years (well, still this years for a couple of hours technically) hill climb incited me in dragging my @ss down to the Springs this new year to go watch the event. Now that I have read this post, I am definately going to have to mark my calender and come cheer yall on. GL with the continued build and hope to see ya on the hill.
This system, like any other system has too many variables to plug in a standard price. It depends on the type of turbo you get, the piping you run, intercooler, etc. Best thing to do is talk to the guys at STS and see what they can come up with for you. As far as how difficult is it to install, it really depends on your mechanical skill level as to how much you could do on your own vs. having a shop do the work.justinedible4 wrote:Looks like tons of fun man!Question: Would the remote turbo setup total cost be around the cost of a topmount or a bottom mount? And would it be something that a 19 yr old kid could do or take to a shop to do?
