Pathfinder Fender Flares on a QX4

I know there have been many posts on the rotting running boards of the QX4. I have a '00 QX4 that is stock equipped from top to bottom and my running boards are shot. I'm thinking about putting a nice set of Westin steps on there and being done with it. But I'd like to do something about the fender flare > running board transition that will be lost with the Westins. Has anybody tried taking a set of fender flares from a similar year Pathfinder and mounting them to a QX4? At first glace it seems like this might just work.

Wont work. The geometry on the flares and fenders are different from pathfinder to qx4.
