Man, that's gonna cost quite a bit, and finding them in your vehicle's color can be very difficult to find. I was lucky and found a tailgate for only $50 (after removing rear glass) at a relatively local u-pull-it junkyard. They even have an online inventory, which is neat, but unfortunately they don't have a location close to NY.

I ended up turning this:

Into this:

The total cost for the door was about $300 ($50 for door, ~$75 in paint costs, $150 for Nissan to pull the wiring harness through and weld one of the strut brackets on [I overtorqued a bolt and the head sheared off, and then my buddy and I broke a drill bit inside attempting to remove the bolt ]), and fixing the quarter panel was about double that at MAACO.

Good luck with finding parts.

See what you can find on RockAuto. The fog lights, headlamp assembly, and radiator shroud are probably fairly cheap.

To upload pictures, upload them somewhere like imgur.

i fixed the tie rod inner and outer, then went to drive it and the rear wheel grinded and the front was clunking when turning (both passenger side) the lower control arm is bent and the i think the a spring broke in the drum brake system, also the alternator is not working, is there a fuse for the alternator? because the car dies and i need a battery charger to get it running again, and the guages dont work

well it was raining, and the tires arent the best, the one tire hit the white lines around a turn the tires broke loose (lsd) so both tires and i counter steered let go of the gas it kept goin so i turned more then i caught traction and it whipped around into the concrete median on the highway

Ugh, hydroplaning is the worst. I also hydroplaned recently on a highway on-ramp going about 50mph and ended up facing traffic, luckily there was no damage or injury. That really sucks man, keep an eye on your tires in the future... it's not worth dying over some rubber.

Check the fusible links in the fuse box behind the battery. For the instrument cluster, I believe there is a fuse somewhere for it, check behind the coin tray.

i think the instrument cluster dont work because of the alternator, every car ive had that had an alternator problem the gauges wouldn't work, and i was about to get new tires within the next few weeks, instead of fixing the pathfinder right away i got a nother car because of school, i ended up facing traffic and luckily didnt hit anyone, becasue it was that time of day

Maybe part it out and call it a day....

I'm seeing '01 Se's in good shape with 200k km for under $5000 in Vancouver BC, where our prices for these are high...

I'm no body shop guy at all, but from what I understand, unibody damage like that needs to be cut out, then filled in from a donor car... $$$

With used prices, your probably looking at $500 just in parts for the front, more if wrong color (likely) then have some filling/ paint work on the front fender...

All while hoping everything is straight and not more broken...$$$

Hate to say it, but if your in school then you probably could do without paying for the gas drinking Pathfinder

-This is coming from a guy who now buses to school because it costs 18 dollars in gas per day to drive while I have a free bus pass from the University.

I think Chris.m has the right idea here really, after taking a second look at your pictures - it's probably too cost prohibitive to fix all of that. If you fix the lights and driveability issues you might be able to still drive it around, but it probably wouldn't pass an NY inspection (assuming they do inspections).

yea, we have retarded inspections, but i can get both bumper covers and reinforcements, headlight, fender for around 550$ new (not painted) at rockauto (w/o 5% discount so calc that into cost) i went to school at a boces for autobody (hate it or id do it my self) and i bet my old teacher would let the students there do the work for material cost, and all i need to do as far as the quater panel for inspection is have an operating taillight and blinker, so it isnt to bad, im more or less looking for a hatch because im not spending 600$ on a dented one, when the pull it yourself yard sells them for 40$, and i may be able to get that one to open bend the brackets back and use it jus the way it is until i find a new one, i have most of it planned out, and 5000S isnt bad for one because thats what people here are charging on , craigslist about 6500 used dealerships all less than 140k, and im only 19 i cant really afford 5000$, i got mine for 1500$ with 164k and all i had to do was put a new rac and pinion in, wich i got for 100$ and only took me a few hours of labor, and i personally love my truck and want it fixed, i would buy another and use that as a parts car, but im short about 4000$ right now and im not getting that much for the beater im driving now lol

o yea and as far as the cut out donor for the quarter panel, is a 98 pathfinder shape the same? because i could get a quarter panel from one of those

Well, I wouldn't invest in paint or anything if you decide to get the bumpers/fender/quarter panel... just make sure it wouldn't rust. You might need a new washer fluid tank; if so, install one before putting a new front bumper on for convenience.

You may want to check out Google Maps for junkyards in neighboring cities if you haven't yet. You may have luck finding parts there.

If you believe your Pathfinder is in good mechanical condition and can make it for hopefully many more miles to come, spending around $700 to get it looking decent and to pass inspection might be worth it to you. Have you inspected it for significant corrosion in the wheel wells yet? Since you're in NY, rust is a definite possibility. See this thread for details.

A '98 is pre-facelift. I'm not sure if the size matches. Also, please refrain from double posting - there is an "EDIT" button at the top right of your own posts, please use it in the future. I've merged your last two posts.

oops, my bad i didnt realize, i did have it inspected they had my car for 2 days for some filler neck recall and some fiber glassing on the wheel wells, and i dont plan on painting the car until it is at 100% (if i can get it there), i honestly want to take it to a body shop for the quarter panel and have it looking as close to perfect and possible and tell them not to paint it jus prime over the filler and stuff, color doesnt bother me too much, my old maxima was side swiped and rear ended and it was multi-colored
Before
Image
After
Image
i did the body work my self, eventually smoked all the taillights, it was like 5 different colors (body green, fender was dark greyish purple, black trunk, white bumper, and the primer over the filler)

at the end of this school semester i should have another 1800$ wich i think would cover the professional body work, or i could jus save my money now, plus that 1800, and everything in between and get another pathfinder and have the parts truck, im driving a subaru now and i heard there reliable so i could drive it until then, or just fix everything on the current pathfinder, decisions decisions honestly idk what to do

That doesn't look bad! I know how it feels to have a multi-colored vehicle. :)

Fiberglassing in the wheel wells? I don't follow - did they apply some undercoating, or do a repair involving a metal plate?

For the quarter panel repair on my Pathfinder, it costed about $500 for MAACO to Bondo and realign the quarter panel so the door would close properly. MAACO also supplied the replacement bumper, which I spray painted black (it was primered) using Krylon Fusion. I also painted the front bumper cover and fender flares to achieve something of a pre-facelift R50 look. Paint would be another $220ish, still need to save up for that...

I don't know what to advise in regards to what to do. It's ultimately your decision.

That was my first car and i loved it, i want another one so bad (i could jus throw the towel in with both my car and get one of those)

The lady said i had some rusting problems and they were fiber glassing it, and yes there is under coating, idk was confused about the fiber glassing too, but they know what there doing i guess, looked better than it did lol

if i could get that work done for 550$ id be happy lol, idk what MAACO is though or if its around here, as far as paint i jus go to the local Colours (paint place) say im a student (teacher will say i am) and i get like 45% off there inventory and i can paint so its not gonna cost me much unless i do the entire vehicle like i want (i think black pathfinders are the best)

i know its my decision but im confused on weather its worth putting all my money into something that may not turn out good, i know thats apart of life but its a pain on the a##, i mean i love my pathfinder there was only 2 things i didnt like about it mpg and the weak clutch it has, the maxima i loved except i fixed it frequently do to the poor attention it got from previous owners, and the subaru i only like 2 things about it mpg and the only money i put in was sway bar link and tune up

This is MAACO.

Ah, yes, reading the recall PDF, fiberglass cloth was used to cover perforated areas of the wheel well, which was then undercoated. You had a level 2 repair performed.

hmm i wonder how serious it was, it didnt look that bad when i looked before i took it in but at the same time i wasnt sure exactly what i was looking for

as for MAACO the closest one is about 1.5-2 hours away maybe a little farther

oops i lied just re-looked about an hour away

You can take a look at this PDF to see examples of rust in the wheel well.

MAACO probably isn't your best choice - I'd try to find a local shop, or perhaps try to DIY as much as you can to save cash.

i would do it my self, but i get frustrated really easily and body work deffinatly pute me there quickly, my friends keps trying to get me to get a cut out we can weld in and then blend with filler but, its honestly something that drives me insane because i go for perfection and i cant reach it so i get frustrated

do you think a local shop could give me a rough estimate from pictures? because its not going back on the road until its fixed, i mean i can get it to them and back if they will fix it but other than that its staying put, and id just like to know where im standing as far as costs would go, im not thinking its going to be cheap but since there not painting it i cant imagining it being outrageous

I don't see why you couldn't try to get a rough estimate. Bring a laptop if you have one and show them the pictures, or put them on your phone or something.

You can't expect perfection after body work - it's never going to look the same as new, IMO. My "new" door has flaws and I live with them. My car is 11+ years old (mfg. 10/00), I don't mind too much.

I know it wont be perfect, but if i personally do it it has to be as close as possible because i dont want people to think i do a shotty job on things you know?

yea my laptops fried but im sure i could put file son a flash drive and show them on there pc or on my phone. if theyd accept it that way hopefully, im going tomorrow to purchase my school books as long as the costs are under 400$ i should be able to afford most of the parts except hatch and tail lights (going to get the Altezza black taillights) then ill just need the fog lights (not a necessity right now) control arm, fan shroud and (thanks for reminding me) window washer fluid jug thing

do you have any advice for how to open my hatch? the handle doesn't work i can get the glass to pop open but not the actual hatch idk if its because its bent or the handle was disconnected from the accident, and i cant take the rear bumper pieces off without it open

I'm not sure how to open your hatch. Mine still opened and closed fine, luckily. You can remove the inner trim by unscrewing the door handle then prying the trim off from the sides - try not to break too many trim clips in the process if you plan on reusing the trim. Once the trim is off, you should be able to see the lock mechanism and try to open the hatch from the inside.
