Heya... was beautiful out this weekend so I decided to paint my calipers and put on the ebay kit...I went with G2 caliper paint and I must say it was worth it.. I like the finish and the epoxys self-leveling feature , must admit that i thought i`ll run short on paint but in the end had enough left to do another two coats ( I did 3 ). Many people seem to complain about the prep, wll with the right tools it can be a little easier . I used grinder with wheel brush and dremel abou 15 mins per caliper and got it prefectly clean.. overal painting only took me about 4 hrs playing with jack etc.. I did the rotors and pads on sunday morning also took me about 4 hrs with the biggest problem unbolting the caliper off brackets.. the bolts were baked on but with a lil struggle and power got them off... Changing brakes is pretty simple but saved me a few bucks.
btw. i went with gold because everyone has either red black or silver.. was hoping for them to be a little lighter but i like it as it is.
And as for the brakes its deffinetly a big difference in stoping and well worth the money !!!

Did you put anything over your decals? What did you use? If a clear coat which one? If you just stuck the decals on and didn't protect them with anything I would be really interested in an update pic six months down the line to see how they are holding up.

Now I'm a little upset, I yellowed my alipers for no reason. Didn't think those decals would stay on without clear.

Yeah I did not use any clear ( waste of time) the stickers hold great so far.. will see after some time and if not, they are cheap and easy to put on..

Nice work! So you painted them while still attached to the brake line & rotor..or just taken off the rotor??

Floor jacks on gravel. Apparently you have some cajones too.

Yep I got big ones

Just take the wheel off and wipe all the brake dust off the caliper. Use a high heat spray can from your local auto parts store (like pep-boys) which only cost about $6.

Tape the center of the brake rotor (what the pad makes contact to rotor) and paint everything, caliper & rotor. 1st coat should be light, 10mins later give a 2nd coat making sure everything gets painted nice. Wait 15mins put wheel back on and start the next wheel.

After all 4 are done take the car on a 10min ride (with lots of stopping) in order to clean over sprayed paint on rotor, this will also heat up the paint and make it stick even more.

I have done this to over 50 cars even without tape and never had a problem.

The pic on top shows what it look like with the lettering after almost 2 years. The pic of my caliper was taken by Don the Blaze at the BBQ, you can ask him how they looked in person.

$6 spray can and $8 for lettering, maybe an hour of your time. Hardest part is taking the wheel on & off.
