My car is throwing a P1574 code. And upon further research, autocodes says it's a Vehicle Speed Sensor. But I am confused as to which part it really is.

My speedometer reading is way off and my cruise control does not work. When turning on the cruise control, the "Cruise" light comes on and the "Set" light keeps flashing but not actually doing anything. Also my SES/CEL is not on and my car drives just fine, just those two problems.

So my question is, is it a Vehicle Speed Sensor I need to replace or a Transmission Sensor? And where is it located? I seen some pictures where it's on the driver's side wheel well.

Always amazed of those requesting assistance with a problem and neglect to mention the year model, and mileage of the vehicle.

Have you ever considered checking out the FSM for your vehicle whatever it is?

See page EC- 488

Possible cause
P1574
ASCD vehicle speed sensor
The difference between the two vehicle speed
signals is out of the specified range.
• Harness or connectors
(The CAN communication line is open or
shorted.)
• Unified meter and A/C amp.
• ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit)
• Wheel sensor
•TCM
•ECM

You may want to consider having a dealer troubleshooting the problem for you.

I thought my vehicle was posted on my profile? 2002 Infiniti I35. I also do not know the mileage because the gauge cluster is having some problems and does not display anything. And at this point it doesn't really matter because the part needs to be replaced regardless.

I already know this information. My question is, does the ASCD Vehicle Speed Sensor refer to the Vehicle Speed Sensor or the Transmission Speed Sensor? Because like in my original post, there are two different sensors. All I want to know is which one it is because I've been finding mixed results and I do not want to spend the money on 2 different parts for nothing, especially that they are pricey.

I narrowed it down to the VSS because my transmission shifts fine when it wouldn't if the TCM went out and an SES/CEL would come on. I am just looking for confirmation if I am getting the sensor right. If it helps, my OBDII scanner reads about ~40 kph less than what a GPS speedo like Waze displays.

You can get both those of sensors for much cheaper on eBay!
