I searched and did almost everything but now I'm stuck. I removed the sway bar, loosen the top bolts on the motor mounts, and jacked the engine up by the bellhousing. Everything is goo dbut the oil pan refuse to come out, i can wiggle it around but that's it. I jacked the engine up to a point where the front of the car is no longer on the jackstands. Would it be any helpful if I take out the bottom bolts of the motor mounts?

it means I got the old gasket off already. The process of actually pulling it out is what I'm stuck on. As if the motor isn't high enough for the oil pan to clear the material on the inside, but i can't jake it up any higher.

You can get it out, trust me. It takes a little finessing (sp?), also you have to unbolt the sump tube, try taking the engine mounts all the way out. If you've got aim hit me a message, OneEightyEssEcks.

Bingo. While not a CA, I had the same problem removing a KA oil pan, and it turned out to be the sump tube (or oil pickup, as I like to call it) getting in the way. If you have a ratcheting box wrench, it would make life a bit easier to get that piece out.

yea...i noticed it. You have to take off the 2 bolts on the front right?

btw: how do you guys put the liquid gasket on the oil pan? I followed the instructions in FSM [along the groves, inner part on the bolt areas] What about near the rubber seals for the front and back? Some local guy said to just put liquid gasket on it, wait a little for it to kinda dry up but not too long and stick the pan back on. I was having leak near the bell housing and i doubt it's the rear engine seal because I changed that already.

I think you have to put a little dab on the block where the corners are that the pan meets the rear main seal. Its a little half moon shape. Also, about the setting of it up, it doesnt really matter, you might just want to let it cure for about 1 hour before you add oil.

As was stated earlier, if you're trying to pull the pan with the motor still in the car the oil pickup will hang up on the baffles in the pan. You will have to do one of two things, either take out the 2 bolts on the oil sump (I don't like this method as re-installing them sucks, especially if you drop a bolt in the oil pan) or take the nuts off the bottom of the motor mounts, and the 4 nuts (2 on each side) holding on the subframe. That will allow the subframe to drop down away from the motor enough to pull the pan without removing the pickup. The downside to the last method is that you might need an alignment afterwards. I've done it like this 3 times on KA's and never had alignment problems afterwards, but it's still a possibility.
