Oil filter balls....

I just got a call from my car being in the shop, and they told me i didnt have any oil pressure, so they changed the gauges and still nothing....They removed the oil filter "tree" and they said that one of the balls were missing inside of it, so they told me to go outside and do they same to my spare engine, and I had both balls in there, but one was in great condition, was able to push down on it, but the other was all messed up, and the spring was no good. I was curious if this would cause me not to have oil pressure? what are those balls for? I will try to explain it if you need me to. Any help will be helpful... Thanks

balls? lol.replace the whole pump assembly orjust replace the sending unit/sensor which usually go bad.

ps. you just wasted money on the gauges

yeh dude, ill get a picture if my camera will work. right behind the oil filter tree neck thing, if you remove that, there will be two balls. I didnt buy the guages, they just swapped other ones on there to see if its that...I'm going to have them try an OPSU.

i don't know what to tell ya.. looks like one of the bearing is gone... or better yet, damaged

but it's on the block so i don't know what to tell ya... maybe someone who has had this mishap before tell you.

Those ball bearings act as check valves, so the oil only flows one way.

i found out they are check valves, and if these arent working correctly i will not have oil pressure, so im going to nissan tomarrow to order 2 of them.

Yes they are check valves, if you take the good spring and the good ball from your spare you could theoretically swap it in and it should work, BUT its probably a cheap part anyways.

I'm pretty sure only the one side shoudl ahve the check ball, the other side is a solid d!ck, if that disk is off as in the pic that might be an issue but I suspect you did that after the fact

is the oil pan dented? the pickk up in thest hings is desinged so taht when the pan gets dented just a little it basically plugs the pickup and you get no pressure

So, if ones supposed to be solid, what is the other one supposed to be like? When I go to Nissan today, I'm going to order two of them, and replace both of them for the hell of it...Whats the easiest way of removing these?Thanks
