Later this year I'm getting some new rims and I'm not sure I understand what offset actually is. From what I understand, a wheel with low offset or negative offset will stick out further. Is this true? I want an aggressive looking fit on my Versa with deeper wheels. What offset should I get, and what is backspacing?

When viewed from the front, offset is the distance between the hub mounting surface and the center-line of the rim. Positive offset means the hub surface is further out than the rim center, and negative is behind it. Offset effectively determines where the wheel is in the wheel well. A more forward hub (positive offset) tucks the wheel further in, and a negative offset moves it farther out.

Thank you, that helped quite a bit.
