New to the Q45 and honestly I would have never owned one (now 2 , 94-95) if it weren't for the desire to have a VH45 in a J30. Even buying beat down examples I can see how great these were/are!

Before everyone jumps on the n00b about endangering society I shall explain, we have recently swapped the VH45, harness and automatic trans into a lightweight (2800lb J30) road race car (closed course), in previous competition we have seen 138-140mph with the VG30DE and are now expecting somewhere around 150mph with the V8 , no big deal right? Nope, here lays the issue, this configuration will be running a lower rear gear then the Q...

No time and little budget left to shop a different ECU not to mention a chipped ECU is not allowed in this situation.

Again, the questions apply to a stock 1995 q45

Question 1, What does top speed limit manifest as :
A soft refusal to go faster? A rev limiting stutter? Abrupt cutoff?

Question 2, is there a rough and dirty way to get rid of the 150-155mph limit:
Perhaps cut the speed signal to the ECU leaving speed signal proper to the TCU? Will it still shift? Affect timing on the top end? Disallow camshaft advancement? Any side affect at all? Obviously there is no concern for little nuances like A/C condenser fan strategy and such.

Please discuss, time is of the essence!
elwesso?

P.S.
On a side note I am now taking parts requests/offers of what remains of the 1995 donor car, please message privately as I have no classified ad up at this time.

It may not be too bad, the stock J30 ratio is 3.91so 140mph is all we get but it will be quick to get there ;)

Anyone?
Does it cut fuel smoothly?

I thought the NICO ECU's took care of the speed cap problem.

No time to shop for one, little leeway within the race series rules for a modified computer, 14 days and counting before returning to the high banks of Daytona International Speedway for 14 hours on the Rolex course.
Still tiding up loose ends with the swap also post/pre race prep to reseal the blown front struts, rebuild the brakes, mount new rubber etc...

Drove it last night for the first time since the swap, all I can say is WOW.

Anyone able to answer my 2 primary questions would be much appreciated!

P.S. Anyone have a NICO (stage 2) computer laying around for sale?

100 miles since its first drive
12 days and counting before unleashing its full potential on track, there has been a course change to this.

Anyone that has experienced high speed cutoff please describe how it limits so we know what to expect.

Thanks

2 work days left to finish things up, last night I installed a toggle switch in the speed circuit running to the ECU then put it on a lift and ran it up till the fuel cutoff point, did this a couple times with the signal turned off and on, it does still shift properly, the cams still advance but it does trigger the check engine light.

Haven't looked at codes yet, obviously it is going to indicate missing speed signal, does anyone know if there any other side effects to running 40mph up to top speed all day long while throwing this code?

Anyone? Been driving it around to the tune of 400 miles, so far its seemingly just a engine light when speed signal is interrupted....car going on the trailer tonight, will be on track 9am sunday...
