So finally after an ungodly amount of time I am getting my Z put back together, the block is at the machine shop as we speak (should be done friday) As soon as it comes back I am blueprinting the whole bottom end, buying all necessary components (bearings, seals, gaskets, etc..) and putting this thing back together (again). I will post pics along the way along with short write-ups if I have time. That is all for today, I am ecstatic to be at this point and hope you guys will join in my jubilation. here are some pics that I already have of the Z in various stages of build and tear-down. Enjoy.

I know the feeling, I'm waiting on my student loans to come in so that I might have enough to get some body work done with the extra. But the time spent waiting is just going to make the finished product feel that much sweeter. And Futurama is great, thanks lol, I'm glad someone caught the reference.

Keep us updated!

Lol I know EXACTLY what you mean. I've basically saved my whole life for my car/parts. I picked up a hoist today (it's kinda small but it was free) and I have my Walbro coming tomorrow. All I need is to finish taking the furniture out of the garage and get to work (I still have about $1500 for suspension and $1000 for tints and exhaust). Rebuilding a car is great.

That sentence reminded me of a Lord of the Rings movie. Just when you thought it was gonna end...

Good news, I called the machine shop yesterday, the block will be ready today in the afternoon, I might get out of work early to pick it up, I'm excited to get started and with schoool starting next week I wanna get as much done now as possible. For now I am building it to stock spec, with bigger injectors and either a SAFC2 or NisTune for engine management. I am talking to a local Z-head who does P&P about doing my heads, thats a big maybe though because my budget is pretty limited. But basically I think that having a 350+ whp car will be enough for me for the next few years until I can afford to do a big power build. Aaaaand I will definitely put up pics along the way. I'll post up a full list of mods when I go through my garage and actually collect my thoughts.

Great news! Congrats

Sounds like you have a solid plan. Once you want more power, all you need is some bigger turbos and you can easily get to 500hp.

Yeah I'm looking at P&P simply for the flow (and w/ future upgrades in mind), it would yield faster spool on stock turbos but thats about it because the stock VG30 outflows the stock turbos as is, you start pushing the flow potential of a stock vg30 at around the gt2860/big 16G which is what I would like to put on there.

Sorry I haven't updated guys, I got OWNED by work on Thursday and Friday, we had like 50 Orders come in for Windstorm (engineering/construction) and I worked like 24/25 hours between those two days. I will post pics when I get home tonight.

UPDATE: Picked up block and crank on Saturday morning. Block was Honed and Tanked, crank was magna-fluxed, turned and polished. I have not blueprinted it yet but the tech/owner of machine shop said it was all at base factory spec, (smallest factory bore IIRC 87.00 mm, and largest crank diameters). The rods are all in great condition, I checked these when I pulled it apart, right now I am waiting on the freeze-plugs to come in (yes I had to order the f***ers) as soon as those are in I am mounting the Block on a stand, taping it off and painting it. Thats about it for now, like I said I will post pics when I get home and more updates as they develop.

Freeze plugs still haven't come in, I'm starting to get pissed off, they should be in today so I'm gonna get them put in and them prep the block for paint probably going with silver/aluminum or charcoal VHT. What do color do yall think I should do the block?

Do you wanna stand out or do you wanna look clean? I'd say black or navy would look best. What color is the engine bay?

The engine bay is same as the car, navy blue. I wanted to do a neutral color like silver or charcoal so it wouldn't jump at you because the engine already has copper metallic and polished aluminum everywhere, but I don't want to do it black so if it develops a leak it is easier to track on a lighter color.

Update: no pics yet cause well there's nothing to see but I did pick up the freeze plugs and got them put in, I also blueprinted the crank, rods and bottom of the block yesterday, ordering the bearings today.

Planned for today: Order main and rod bearings, mask off block, decide on paint color for the block, manifolds, turbine housings (I am going to coat the turbines and the manifolds to try to alleviate some of the heat under the hood)

Still taking suggestions on color for the block.
